I have been to many aquariums and this was one of my favorite. Although smaller it was extremely well designed. Tanks were amazingly clean and all of the animals looked healthy and happy. There are so many cool things to do and see. Lots of exhibits that allow you to interact with the animals. The larger exhibits with the sharks are so good the next best thing would be scuba diving. I was also impressed with all the science backed educational interactive experiences. Also they provide a sensory room for parents to use if necessary. Overall it was a fun, relaxing, educational experience. Me and my kids all agree we would do it again.

Buy tickets online to reserve a time to enter the aquarium. If you go early the line to get in is not long. Aquarium is small and you can get through it quickly BUT it has a lot of employees to educate you about the sea life so it’s very entertaining. It was very nice and we had lots of fun. The shark area is beautiful.

Bought the tickets online for a 9:30am entry. Came on a weekday so it wasn't very busy and had a lot of parking. The aquarium validates parking, so I paid $5 while I was there. Did the virtual train tour, which was a great way to see a bit of history of St. Louis. There were a lot of staff there that were willing to answer questions. A lot of stations where you can pet the sea animals. There is also a large play area for kids, so I would say this place is very kid friendly. I would say it takes about an hour to an hour and half to walk through the entire aquarium while taking many pictures. I would recommend coming closer to 11 as that's when they start to feed the otters. The next feeding would be at 3pm. The otters will spend most of the time swimming around, so the feeding time would be the best to grab pictures of them.

The two main standouts of this aquarium has going for it is how interactive it is and the pricing is fair ($86 for 2 adults and 2 children). I hope that they plan on expanding because it’s rather small and you will be in and out in less than 45 min to an hour. It wouldn’t be fair to compare this to your regular city a aquarium size wise. Not bad at all. I would recommend if you are okay with the factors listed above. The kids had a great time.

Questions & Answers

How can this have a 4.6 resting out of 10 people. The place doesn't open until fall 2019?

Hello Jack, Right there with you buddy. I don’t understand either. Obviously 4 people must have been sitting down on a chair resting while the others had an elevated heart rate for some reason. I just can’t put my head around the .6? What happened to that person?

The prices are kinda steep, are they permeant? Will there be special deals, because with these prices I'll go to the zoo any day.

In the context of St Louis, $25 is super expensive. Note that the zoo, art science and history museum, world bird sanctuary, and lone elk park are all free. The botanical gardens are $8 for residents and $15 for non residents. The city museum is $16. The arch is $14. Grant's farm is $15. This is quite literally the most expensive attraction in St Louis other than the endangered wolf center (because its technically not open to the public), all to look at maybe 20 fish tanks that will take you an hour to get through if you stop at each tank for 15 minutes like we did. In addition to that, St Louis has a very low cost of living. That's because we have low income. St Louis is very impoverished. $25 is a lot for us.

Will the aquarium be open on Dec 26, 2019? Are advance reservations required, or will tickets be available at the front?

I heard they were sold out for the first day (25th). Because of that response, I would buy tickets ahead of time-- especially during the holidays. Check out their website.

I live in Huntsville Alabama and my family and I always go to the Chattanooga aquarium because its so close to home. We have been looking for something fun and entertaining. If you do all 6 attractions is it worth it?

Eric Price | Sep 9, 2020

I was only able to do the aquarium, Ferris wheel, and swing by the soda fountain before I had to go, and they were all a good time. If you do everything, it would be a fun day of activities, for sure. :)
