No bathroom. Just a toilet. No sink, no mirror. No way to wash hands or put in contacts. Parking is a muddy mess on the side of the road - no dedicated parking lot- so you have to watch for cars speeding along as you pack and unpack. Most sites don’t have a path too them so you have to navigate down a steep grassy slope causing erosion issues or walk through a campsite with a path to it. Some sites have a path to the Potomac but they’re steep so an erosion nightmare and you have to walk through other campsites if you didn’t get one. They’ve removed the handle from the pump so you can’t wash dishes or hands without sacrificing your drinking water. The camp host did tell us when we arrived that evening he could give us as much water as we wanted the next day between 9:30-10:30 am. Who is still at their campsite that late in the day? Not the sites fault but the way it is situated there is no breeze but its super humid. There is no cell service either.

The campsite was clean and the host was friendly. The 2 star rating is because the campsites are right next to each other with almost no privacy. In addition the C&O towpath is about 10 feet from the campsite. It's basically like camping in a giant gymnasium full of people. It depends on what you want to get out of it. If you want privacy, quiet, and natural beauty don't camp here.

Antietam is a primitive campsite (no water other than one pump for the camp, no garbage disposal [carry in/carry out] and outhouses and vault toilets, no electricity) along the the historic and beautiful Potomac River. If you're out that way and have a tent to pitch and are self-sufficient, it's a great place to stop. Tons of stuff to see and do nearby. We found this campsite on accident when we headed down to see the B & O Canal, so we didn't have reservations. Gary, the camp host, figured out a way to accommodate us and is the nicest camp host we've ever met. Great tips for where else to go camping, hiking and sight seeing and just a genuinely kind person.

One of the best campsite I have been on that was on a river. The fishing was great, the sunsets were great, the atmosphere was great. Even during COVID, it was a great location.

Hi, site 20 would be your most private i believe, its tucked away, but its the furthest from the bathrooms
No, the campsites are on the other side of the canal. A short walk over a bridge but not vehicle accessible.
There is no formal check-in, the spot is yours after 1pm. There is no one watching over things that I could see. My scout troop didn't show up till almost 7pm just last week. Just make sure you're using the park map to find the campsite, it's hard to see from over the canal.
Unfortunately no. I'd be more than happy to try to answer your question though.
If you go to nps.gov you can check availability and reserve a site. Parking for any size vehicle isn't a problem. The campsites are a little distance from the parking area though so everything has to be carried. Just a couple hundred yards. I've seen people using all kinds of carts and wheelbarrows.
