We stopped in for lunch after a long bike ride on the canal. Drizzly day and there are not that many options in Sharpsburg so I figured I wouldn’t get my hopes up. The atmosphere is very average, I ordered the burger special and my hubby got the chicken cheese steak. We both ordered a side of coleslaw. OMG I have to say it was the best burger I’ve ever had!!! Would definitely stop again!

We came her after visiting the battlefield. We ordered crab cakes, pulled pork, and chicken tenders. It was all very good. The crab cakes were fantastic and the pork was delicious. However, I want to talk about fries. They are so so good. Definitely recommend!
Kitchen Boy
After hiking around parts of the Antietam battlefield area, needed to refuel. Stopped in Captain Benders Tavern. Place is exactly what you'd expect in a tavern/pub. More space than you think, dart boards, etc. Good selection of national and regional craft beers. Food is good. We had taco salad (basically chili and taco fillings in an edible bowl) and tomato basil soup and chili. Tasty solid food. Would definitely come back next time we are in town. Based on message board they have specials several nights a week.

This is a fabulous little place! We had ridden by numerous times before I looked online & saw they have a chef & great, fresh food! We enjoyed it!

Went for Taco Tuesday this week. Tasty and plentiful plates. Plus, met many friends and neighbors. A nice crowd! TV was on with the election results coming in from VA. The whole place erupted in spontaneous cheering and clapping. It was great! Always great food, and a wonderful atmosphere! There is a bar but it is not a drunk and disorderly place. I'd take my kids, no problem.
