Lines were 40+ minutes yesterday with only 4 lanes open with staff checking out customers. One employee who removed her name tag was not allowing anyone with 20+ items into self checkout and caused a huge scene when my husband and I split our cart of less than 40 items into 2 carts. This employee lost her mind and was spitting she was so upset that we wanted to split our order in 2 so, we could go through the self checkout. I just wanted to give the store my money so I could leave with my items and the lady tells me I need to shop elsewhere. I asked for her manager and she said she is not available even though the manager did come allow us to checkout. Won't be shopping here...crazy and very unhelpful employees.

Considering its proximity to the Sand Dunes park... it's pretty easy to swing into town to get all the provisions you'll need for camping. Considering the remoteness of the San Luis valley area... this Walmart had a great selection of fresh produce.

It's Walmart. Let's save money by not having more cashiers but treat you like a thief when you check yourself out. We stop you at the door for unbagged items knowing FULL WELL we don't carry bags for bigger items or it is pointless to bag things like detergent or milk. Let's take items that no longer have spots on the shelf, mark them with a clearance tag for the same price because face it, no one will ever know. Guilty until proven innocent is the new motto.

The best place for a tourist and a local to buy things. They have literally everything you could possibly need at home and as a tourist/camper, even a subway and a plant nursery. Great stop before going to the sand dunes. They even have a hair salon. Prices were really good at least as a tourist for everything from Colorado gift items (fridge magnets $3-4, $10 for shirts and caps), clothing (for everyone including babies), food, including fruits and vegetables, sunglasses, pharmacy, deli items, camping items etc.
