There are many methods for degassing pipes and tanks, the "best" method will depend on the situation but some commonly used methods include EMTOS (Envent Mobile Thermal Oxidizer System), thermal combustion units, internal combustion engine, scrubber units, chemical degassing and refrigeration and condensing. A comprehensive degassing log will typically include PID/FID calibration records, continuous temperature monitoring, verified flow measuring system, source testing reports, residence time certification, and correct stack monitoring.

In order to degas tanks in California, a vendor needs to be permitted with the APCD/AQMD and complete an annual source test.
