I wanted to have my trial date within 30 days but my public defender said she needed back surgery and would like for me to reschedule. I have rescheduled numerous times for Emma Dewald and everytime a couple weeks before my court date or right before my court date she always transfers to another department and can no longer take my case. I still have not heard from my new lawyer she said I would be hearing from over a month ago. I have talked to Emma Dewald supervisor and left voice-mails and it seems nothing changes. At this point I feel like the public defenders office is trying to throw my case. If anyone would like to talk to me about what I have been going through over the past year, through the fires and through covid please leave your number below and I will call.

Never answer the phone, never call back, I had to physically go there and demand to see my ‘defender’. Incredibly horrible service... I can only imagine how impossible it would be to be in custody and trying to reach them...

They probably do the best they can which is more than i can say about others who are their colleagues. Ms. Brady is a dynamite defender and dedicated to her job. She deserves promoted

this office does not help, nor even return calls to people, they are supposed to be defending you and yet you cant even get a 5 min conversation with them......this office is a complete joke

Questions & Answers

I have totally turned my life around and would. like a conviction expunged. I was convicted in October 2016 for Felony Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. Can the Public Defenders office represent me on this case? Do I have to be present?

No I don't think so. I believe you would have to hire a private attorney, which would more than likely work out in your favor. It probably would have prevented you from the case you have on your record now if you had hired a private attorney. Sonoma County has tons of lawyers who represent people who are trying to get expungements, look for current Pro Bono lawyers on the BAR association website or lawyers who work with a payment plan.

How do you check to see what time your court date is on the website

I'm just gonna say that while there shouldn't be favoritism when one is in a position of power, everything in life seems to be about who you know. When someone is family, often family goes out of their way to do everything they can to help their children out. I know that sucks and isn't fair however, life isn't always fair. Sorry if you happen to be on the wrong side of it.
