My beater of a car has been giving transmission troubles after replacing the whole CVT six months ago. I took it to Charlie, and told him that honestly I couldn’t afford any big repairs and just wanted to know if it was perhaps an issue with the computer. Charlie saw my vehicle, and the next day had removed a piece that had been causing the car to shake for the entirety of me owning it. He told me this was more of a compromise (versus a true repair) for such a beat up and rusty car that wasn’t worth the value of the repair itself. My car drives better than it ever has, I’m saving on gas too! He explained everything thoroughly and honestly, was prompt and communicated well. Thank you so much Charlie, I will definitely be back with more vehicles in the future.

I took my 2006 Chevy Malibu to the transmission shop here. The gentleman there that runs the place has very good communication skills. They did a total rebuild on my transmission and my car runs like a champ. Got any transmission trouble take to Hollywood Transmission. Easy to find easy to get in and out of. EXCELLENT SERVICE

My car suddenly started making weird sounds and the check engine light came on, so I stopped by after my friend recommended me this place. Charlie was courteous and very honest about the problems. I've been to other repair shops before and it always felt like they were trying to get more of out me but he was very straight forward and the prices were within my budget. He was able to fix my car and I would recommend this place to anyone who has any car issues. I'll definitely be back if I have any other issues in the future.

I fixed my transmission here but it broke within 7 months. Transmission is a complicated component. There are a lot of moving parts in the transmission. After transmission is rebuilt, it must be tested using a "transmission dynamometer." This transmission shop does not have dynamometer like most transmission shop does. The owner of this shop test drives the car soon as transmission job is complete but that is obsolete. Of course car will drive fine with job he has just done (short period of time). You have to understand that every moving part in the transmission has to wear out "evenly." Just changing the transmission clutch and seals are not going to solve the problem. All the drums and gears have to be cleaned and "resurfaced" and it needs to be up to date spec. There is reason why AMMCO charges a lot higher when they rebuild their transmission. long story short, after 7 months my transmission went bad and the owner did honored the warranty. He said the torque converter went bad. He cited that this particular model the torque converter often goes bad. Really? I had the car for 13 years or so with original torque converter and it didn't fail till 13 years. He had replaced torque converter once again which only failed within 7 months. That's not an excuse. Owner claims he has done transmission service for past 40 years, but he does not do a professional repair. I ended up selling my car recently because after 2 years he has rebuilt transmission for the 2nd time, now the fluid is starting to smell like burning rubber. Also, the car shakes at 60mph. I had enough dealing with this problem and I ended up selling my car. Take my advice, rebuild your transmission else where. If your car is worth less or equal to transmission rebuild cost, just junk the car. If your car is worth more than the value of transmission rebuild, go do it at a reputable shop where you don't see review of transmission failing after less than a year or so. a reputable shop will focus on customer service/satisfaction rather than doing a temporary fix. In addition, he charged $30 for a main seal (rubber) which only costs $10 at the dealership. He pushes people to do service that does not need such as motor mount. REPLY to the shop owner: "transmission dynamometer - these are required if the shop is doing a lot of bench jobs." Have you read the post above? You need to resurface all the rotors and machine them to make them work properly. Again, they all have to wear out "evenly" like I have mentioned above. You are supposed to do a "bench job" when all the components were taken out of transmission for a rebuild. Yes, and you did charge $30 for main seal on the paper as a part. Before that you charged over $1000 for labor for the actual transmission service. It should easily be included with the $10 part since in order to service the transmission, the physical transmission needed to be detached from the engine. And rear main seal is located between engine and the transmission (behind flex plate). You obviously didn't write the reply yourself. You had somebody write this reply, I can tell from reading previous comments from other complaints that your customers stated. Doing a road test for 30 to 35 miles going up and down the hill is obsolete. Again, changing clutch, seals, and putting on an inferior quality torque converter isn't going to solve a transmission problem. Most importantly, changing few items in the transmission isn't going to break the transmission within a few days of repair. We are talking about good quality repair that can promise longevity. You wouldn't even have this comment in the first place if you did the job correctly and if the transmission actually lasted for many years after the repair. I wouldn't really justify doing poor quality repair after transmission breaking after 7 months and I am not the only person complaining about this matter.
