Like I said about it before- wonderful. Hiking, horseback riding, open fields, woods, lake...

Long walk to wooded area from parking across farm fields. We walk our dog on wooded trails at other county parks with well maintained trails. We are in our early 70's so those of you younger folk who like to hike you may enjoy this park and rate it more favorably.

Nice park with a neat old house and some other old structures. Beyond that, it's prairie, forest, and a lake. About 300 acres in all. No facilities when I was there, but there is a guest center that'll presumably be open eventually.

Great trails, plus sunflowers in the Fall! Lots of great events, keep an eye on their Facebook page

Questions & Answers

Are dogs allowed at all areas? If they are on a leash? Do you need a state park sticker? Thanks

Dogs are allowed, they must be leashed. It's a county park so you don't need a state park sticker.

Do you allow horses

Yes. There's a hitching rail and a mounting block next to the parking lot. Lots of lovely, wide paths through fields and the woods. It can be hot in the fields but is nice and cool in the woods, you can get to where you see the lake but not down to the waterfront, no beach. I haven't ridden there but met a few ex police mounts and you definitely need to watch your step for horse apples LOL. Hope you get to check it out, great park!

Can you fish here?

You could if you're okay with a bit of hike with a pole. It would be easier to fish from a spot about 1/2 mile away with direct access to the lake.
