River is a good place it has it's good and bad. For instance, they have some great selections but some of their stuff be expired. I used to order freezer and refrigrator items some of them be from 2019 or Janurary of this year. That is why I stop ordering cold items. They do have delivery service for people who is homebound or don't have transportation to get there.

Have been going for years, great place, only thing is with covid you need to have a vehicle which can be challenging for people who don't or for those only looking for a few items

You can get groceries there once a week you can eat there every time you serve a meal which is like 4 times a week
I am a Volunteer at The River. We have a new system with points. Depending on your family size you get to pick X number of items from each section. Plus all the bread you want and usually free produce too.
In addition to bus transportation, on Fridays you can sign up to get a ride home.
No they don't provide transportation home
Im not sure best thing to do is call and ask the hours for today i think they may have a free comm. Dinner and then pantry but its best to call hrs vary!

The River Food Pantry hours are: Tuesday 1130 AM -100 500 PM - 630 Thursday. 1130 AM - 100 500 PM - 630 Friday. 600 PM -700 Doors open at 500 PM on Friday. Fridays offer free rides home to the NORTHSIDE, or free bus transfers. Meals and clothing close 15 minutes before the food pantry.
