Great little park for an easy walk in the woods. Opal (super-mutt) and I enjoyed it thoroughly. There's a rockhouse right off the trail that's worth checking out while you're there!

Not sure about the circus. Just know the sell family owned the park till the late 1930's before giving it to the United States
There is a backpacking site in an adjacent park available for short term camping. It's maybe a mile and a half from the parking lot.
