Here's the bottom line. I've been going to Spine and Wellness for at least 24 to 25 years.I incurred a low back injury back in 1996 at work. After several different types of therapy, I then had a couple failed back surgeries and was sent to Spine and Wellness by my orthopedic doctor. Initially I was prescribed different narcotics to help with the.pain. Over time my body became immune to them so they kept raising the dosage to a very high amount. Eventually my gi system couldn't take it any longer and I ended up.in the hospital for five days . At that point I had Spine and Wellness start withdrawing me down to a lower dose.That took a year to do.Now currently I had been taking the low dose for the last 8 years until the other day when I went.in for a follow up visit and was told ny state workers compensation will no longer cover the cost for opiates to treat longterm pain nor is Spine and Wellness willing to prescribe to workers compensation cases anymore. My whole point is that they just said cut your dose in half for a week and then your done no more dor pain.We'll see how you're doing in thirty days.Dropped me like a hot potatoe!!! After the first three days of bad withdrawal I called and they prescribed some Valium to help. It doesn't and the withdrawal is still horrible .I'm fine with getting off the opiate, just got to get through the withdrawal!!! Then have to deal with back pain somehow.THINK TWICE WHOM YOU GO TO FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT AND REALLY THINK about whether it's worth taking opiates as there's no long term study on taking them.
