The booking process and pick up process were both incredibly frustrating and painful. I should have noticed these red flags before confirming and picked up my Penske reservation instead. I first went to the store to buy boxes and ask to make a reservation. The manager told me to go online which was incredibly off-putting. I made phone reservations and Once I changed the date of these reservations online I was up-charged. My original reservation was cancelled without my request. Truck was vandalized less than 1/4 mile from the store. roadside assistance and this store did the absolute least work to assist me. I waited for over 9 hours to get towed to the store and another 2 hours to get a hotel room. Meanwhile I was sitting outside of a hotel through the entire process. My pet was traumatized from being isolated in a carrier and truck for over 10 hours. I persistently expressed the urgency of the situation but nobody at the store or on the phone seemed to pay me any mind. They have stalled all day and night to do as little as possible to help and prolong the situation. Each time I call I need to explain myself again. They are making me unpack and reload another truck rather than rekeying the ignition and locks. They are not allowing me to remain in the hotel while this work is done. I was going to tow a UBOX trailer for an additional payment of $400, but I reached out to UBOX and they cancelled the trailer tow so now I am unable to recoup those funds. A reliable and customer focused company would heed the call sooner and understand the urgency of this type of request. It should only have taken a few hours maximum to secure me lodging while the situation is remedied (I was sitting right outside my hotel less than 1/4 mile from the uhaul store). Someone from the store should have had the courtesy to come by and help and/or secure me a room in the hotel where I was already parked. They suggested to wait in the lobby, which is insufficient for my animal who needs to have some freedom to move around. I expressed this urgency many times. Alas, the entire day has been burned because of lackadaisical customer service. Never using UHAUL again.

I scheduled online to get a tow hitch + wiring + installation. I made the appointment for the next day at 10:30 am. I called up the store a couple hours later at 6:15pm to make sure they had the parts in stock and it would work on my truck. It is a hour drive to the store so I didn’t want to waste the drive. They told me everything was good and even recommend a different ball hitch that would be cheaper and work the same. The next day I arrived at my appointment and they told me it would take 2 hours for my appointment. When I scheduled my appointment online I selected wait for vehicle which they confirmed in the store. They told me they would call me when my truck was ready and I walked over to a coffee shop to wait. I walked back to the store when 2 hours had passed and when I walked in the employees asked me if I had dropped off the Tacoma for the hitch job. I confirmed I had and they told me they did not have a part in stock to do the job and they were trying to source it. They told me that they had done the wiring on the truck and could get the hitch in later that day and if I could make it back at 10:30 am the next day they could do the install. They said they would not charge labor for the hitch install. I said okay and they refunded my card for the tow hitch + install but charged for the wiring. When you schedule the appointment online you have to pre pay. It charged me half hour labor for wiring and half hour labor for the hitch install. When I checked my receipt after I left they charged me for an hour of wiring install. Highly recommend to avoid this place. I tried so hard to avoid any issues and they failed to do there part. 0/10 do not recommend

I'm officially done using uhaul the worst service. If I was able to give no stars I would. First when I went to pick up the uhaul no one was wearing mask, seems to me they didn't get the memo of covid 19. Second the guy only gave me 2 options to either drop off truck "down the street" or keep truck another 2 days. My contract was to leave it at same location I picked it up at. Third truck was dirty didn't even bother to clean it. It felt like some just dropped it off and handed to me. They can not say they cleaned it still had dolly and the pads in there. I didn't request none of that. Fourth when I went to go drop it off the place the guy said that was "down the street" which was a lie and they still charged me the miles. Fifth I wasn't able to check out truck because my phone did not recognize the location that I was in. Waste of my time. I have been trying to get a hold of management and still no luck. Here are some pictures the man in the picture is the one who helped us with no mask. If I had another option that day to leave truck I would of but I got it because I needed it. There was also a big gab on the driver side it felt like the door was going to open on the freeway.

It's $1.29 per mile so you're looking at $168 plus whatever truck you're getting. Everyone's moving out of the bay, you should make reservations ASAP. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way. Good luck!

U Haul of Hayward is a large facility and is usually very helpful with a variety of types of equipment. Call them and talk it over with them.
