Be very very very wary of The Blake's claim of "memory care." They are only set up for high functioning dementia patients. We moved my dad into The Blake a month ago and my sister and mom moved him out today. He has advanced Alzheimers and The Blake were unable to support him in any way and seemed to blame him (and our family) for the fact that he's not able to independently follow directions or care for himself. They stipulated that our family hire an independent third party to provide round-the-clock "supervision" on TOP of the high monthly rate for my dad to have an unfurnished room there, where they left him in his bed lying in very soiled sheets. And they are insisting on keeping the $3000 "community fee" that we paid to have him live there, on top of the $5k monthly rate. It's really not ok. The nurses and staff were generally extremely nice and didn't seem criminally negligent on an individual level, but the company that runs it keeps it wildly understaffed and as far as we can tell is driven by greed.

Seven years ago this week, dementia entered into our lives. Mom's life would never be the same again. Her path forward would depend on many people, not just family. For the past 18 months Mom has been a memory care resident at The Blake at Edgewater. I can not thank the staff and administration enough for their support, communication and dedication. She is well cared for physically, medically and emotionally. Her life has meaning and purpose at The Blake. I would like to thank Red, Richard, Agatha, Joyce, Jennefer, Margaret, Audra, Kelvin, Evelyn and Felicia for their care and professionalism, they are all part of our extended family.

We had to place our father in law there. They have been very good under the circumstances that came with our father in law. They have taken much time to assist him and help him be comfortable. The manager Jason had been very upfront and helpful to us regarding our father’s condition. He has been in Memory Care and they have taken care of him during his very rapid and progressive illness. The place is beautiful and they have done a great job taking care of the residents during COVID-19. I highly recommend the place for local families. They take there time and give the residents a very fair and good opportunity to succeed during his transition. Also the nursing staff and lead nurses have been very upfront in how they have been tending to his rapid decline.

My mom has been at The Blake since November and it has been nothing but life changing for her and our family. The staff are exceptional and go out of their way for her. Jennifer and Sue have been great additions. My mother was very resistant to make a move and she is happy to be at The Blake. If your loved one needs assisting living please look here and let Jennifer help you with the move.

I am not sure which direction you might be coming from, but you can get to it from the 485 exit at Johnston Road which turns into Lancaster hwy/521. Pretty much across the road from the new Redstone Cinemas
I don't think that should effect if you're denied or accepted. Feel free to call and schedule an appointment to make sure, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the community and it's services.
