Great place to hike and play with the kids. Lots of berry bushes, fun nature playground and some great hikes that really push you but offer amazing views!

Great county park for hiking and rock climbing. Hat tip to Alexander County this park rivals many State Parks in quality. The place is impeccably maintained with well marked trails. We did the prison camp trail which claims to be a hike passing the former site of inmate housing. We did not see any relics foundadions or locations along the hike that looked like they were former inmate housing. Nevertheless it is a really nice moderate 1 mile out 1 mile back hike - just don't expect to see any remains of a prison camp. We also did the Buzzard Loop trail which they say is an easy to moderate trail. While it is short in distance you do have a good vertical assent along the bald face of the granite dome. I would say it is a moderate hike not necessarily easy for the young, elderly or those not comfortable navigating that type of terrain.

I hadn't been to Rocky Face in probably 25 years..since my younger "wild" days, lol. I went to watch my nephew and his girlfriend do some climbing. I must say it was beautiful and well thought out. But I also must say, it made me a little sad that all the graffiti was gone..lol..my name was probably out there five times! Nice place to spend the day with your family. And, fyi, dogs are allowed (on leash), there's picnic tables, bathrooms, trails, and a play area with a slide and small zip line.😊

Nice area, worth the drive for sure. Our 4 year old was able to walk a good deal of trail. There is an awesome play area with a slide for the kids. The views are beautiful, great place to take the family to burn a few hours in nature.

We do not have any climbing rentals at the park. You would need to either buy your own or use a guide service to climb at the park. No need to book a spot for recreational climbing, unless you are using a guide service. But we do require waivers to be signed by each person climbing. Those can be found online or at the park office.
There is a walking trail below the rock but as far as a trail on the rock, no unless it's a jogging stroller. There's big rocks you'd have to maneuver around on the paths
Unfortunately, we don’t allow anyone on park property except during operating hours for safety reasons. Right now, the park is open 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, seven days a week. Beginning March 1, the park will be open seven days a week, 8:00 am - 7:00 pm. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Yes. Trail through the woods has a few rougher spots but worth the walk.
Yes, you may bring your dog, if it has a current rabies vaccination and it must be kept on a leash.
Yes there is a camp site. There are three pad areas that are in one location. They are only a short distance from parking area.
