Amazing 3900ft views, short hike from parking lot, 22min from Floyd, pleasant summer breezes at the top. 2 trails up that join to a final trial to the peak. Red trail is less steep but longer at 0.9mi and blue trail steeper with more natural 'steps' at 0.5mi. They meet to the orange trail which is another 0.3mi to the top. Blue+orange trail takes about 25min to peak at natural walking pace. 10 spaces at parking lot and a nice portapotty available.

This is a phenomenal nature preserve managed by the VA Department of Conservation and Recreation. I visited in April 2022 and got the joy of viewing some very pretty wildflowers. The red and blue trail connect with the orange trail to make a loop and a nice hike to the summit. I would say that the hike is fairly moderate. I started up on the red trail and then came down the blue trail, but you can go the other way is you choose. The blue trail has A LOT of stairs. The red trail has some elevation gain as well, but you tackle it with switchbacks. The summit is gorgeous and has 360 views, and even areas where you can see into North Carolina. When I went there were a lot of different butterflies fluttering around at the summit. Parking is EXTREMELY limited! There is a porta john toilet at the trail head as well, but no other facilities. All in all, a great hike!

Awesome afternoon hike over looking amazing views. Moderate incline on left trail and steeper on right trail. Dirt road in is narrow and parking limited.

Wow, what a beautiful natural area preserve! The actual trail is not all that long in distance, but I would put it in the moderate category in regard to hiking difficulty. When you make it to the peak, be ready for an absolutely beautiful view! The only downside to this preserve, if you want to call it a downside, is the small parking lot. Be prepared to wait for others to leave before you can make your way into the preserve. Outside of that, please make sure to visit this area if you are in the area, as you will not be disappointed.

Great place. Just a correction. You are expected to have your dog on a leash here. It is a preserve created due to the very rare plants and animals. Some which are not found anywhere else on the planet
Yes it is open but you may have to wait they do have a car restriction
If you walk slow maybe an hour up and half that down
