It’s hard to find the words to accurately sum up not only an incredible doctor, but our whole experience, from start to finish with Dr Lyman. My daughter is a very active and athletic 13 yr old, but unfortunately she is predisposed to knee dislocations due to the structure/mechanics of her legs. She had her first dislocation occur at the beginning of 2021 and after seeking out three different opinions from three orthopedic doctors, we found ourselves sitting in an office with Dr. Lyman, the most compassionate and humble doctor I have ever met. There was no ego, or arrogance, like we found with one of the other doctors we met with. Just a doctor, who we could tell, loves what he does and loves helping people. Dr. Lyman sat with us for close to an hour and answered every question that I had before I even had the chance to ask - and I came prepared with a notebook full. He went over her MRI’s and told us exactly what we were dealing with. No other doctor did that - they just simply told me that surgery was not an option after a first time dislocation and that we needed to take the wait-and-see approach. Opting to do surgery is never an easy choice to make, especially when it comes to a child, but having personally experienced painful and reoccurring dislocations at a young age, I knew what her future looked like. And so did Dr. Lyman. He ended up performing what is called an MPFL reconstruction on both of my daughter’s knees, five weeks apart. She is currently 4 and 5 months post-op and her recovery has been amazing. My daughter is a cross country runner and she is currently running 3-4 miles a day and was just released by Dr Lyman to “return to sport.” I credit the amazing skill and knowledge that Dr. Lyman has with this injury and procedure, having performed over 700 of these surgeries. If you have a knee related injury, you definitely want to go with a knee specialist, like Dr. Lyman, to make sure you get this best care and treatment. Having met with two other orthopedic doctors, who were not specialists of any specific joint, I could tell a profound difference in knowledge and even overall attitude. Discovering Dr. Lyman was like striking gold and I’m so thankful for everything he did for my daughter. This was never a chapter I wanted as part of my daughter’s story, but as it comes to a close it’s all a bit bittersweet. I’m glad we can put these injuries and surgeries behind us, but it’s hard to say goodbye to an incredible surgeon, who became a little like family, and turned this chapter into a happy-ending. Thank you, Dr. Lyman, for caring for my child like she was your own. We are forever grateful!

Dr. Lyman is the best knee surgeon you will find! He replaced both of my husband's knees, my mother-in-laws knee and reconstructed our son's ACL. Dr. Lyman performed flawless surgeries each time and everyone recovered quickly and with fantastic results. We are so grateful to Dr. Lyman for his care of our family.

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Lyman! In September 2020, I re-tore my ACL and meniscus (had previous surgery in 2009 in the midwest by another surgeon after an injury during soccer) and so thankful I found Dr. Lyman. I'm new to the CDA area and was struggling to find a competent and knowledgeable surgeon who I trusted for my second surgery. Upon the first consultation, I knew Dr. Lyman was a good fit. He was patient and listened as I shared my symptoms and long knee history. Most importantly (for me), he patiently walked me through my options and helped me feel informed. Surgery went incredibly smooth and I am now 6 months post-op and feeling fantastic- knee now feels very strong! I only wish Dr. Lyman would have performed my first surgery in 2009.

I've earned my share of doctors from punctured lung (bull riding), missing toe (mx racing), pulverized toe (heavy construction) and now a torn ACL and meniscus (skiing). Dr Lyman is as compassionate a doctor as I've ever dealt with. Never mind his technical proficiency or knowledge about knees, it's nice to meet a doctor that makes you feel like he still cares about his patients. I cannot recommend his practice enough. I'm also thankful I can get back to pursuing my future outdoor adventures. Thank you Dr Lyman and OSI. 6 stars out of 5!

I have a medicare advantage plan and Dr. Lyman accepted it. He is fantastic and his staff is outstanding.
Yes! We are involved in clinical research. I started The Lyman Research Foundation, a nonprofit organization to help keep nonprofit funds separate from our practice and our studies conflict-free. We have been blessed to have local involvement from other doctors and have since changed the name to The Institute For Orthopedic Research and Innovation. We currently have one research trial in progress and several others in the works. Our newest Surgeon, Dr. Chris Arena, recently had a separate article accepted to Foot and Ankle International, a highly regarded peer-reviewed journal. We are proud to help contribute to our field and to patient care by participating in research!
