This restaurant was amazing! It’s an adventure getting there and a pleasure dining there. It’s basically a renovated barn in the middle of a pasture. No signs or any other clues of it being a restaurant so we really didn’t know what to expect. We figured it was a sure thing with all the great reviews so we decided to give it a shot and wow, I’m glad we did. My wife and I both had the steak. I have a hard time saying what my favorite steak is but this is definitely in the top 5 and I have eaten hundreds of filets at all the well known high end steakhouses. This is definitely right there with them, maybe ahead of a few. Inside is very well finished high end furnishings but with a casual feel. Staff was all very polite and service was quick. Authentic working Western Electric 302 desk telephone at the check in desk. Had some drinks as well and apps. Great place, I just wish we would have found it sooner than our last night at Mountain Lake Lodge. Just a fun, different kind of place. Go have dinner here, you will be glad you did!

Simply magical. The well executed vision of someone who probably got told a million times “that will never work.” After all, a barn in the middle of nowhere, miles from any city? Themed 1920s speakeasy? Craft cocktails that ONLY feature VA distilleries? Instead of aiming for the quotidian in a sparsely popular area, they shot for the moon and stuck the landing. I found myself noticing detail after detail: individual cloth towels in the bathroom, period-specific furnishings, a classy (not goofy!) 20’s soundtrack played at just the right volume, a steak cooked *exactly rare* not a second too long or little, and a waitress who arrived always at the right time seemingly by reading our minds. The Bad Apple is good to the core. Worth the drive, from any distance.

I had one of the best steaks I have ever had. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall just a wonderful experience.

From the drive in to the amazing service this place is awesome! A unique experience for sure with outstanding cocktails, all with Virginia distilled spirits. Highly recommend! I would recommend the Fitzgerald or the Gimlet for cocktails. The staff is amazing and the whole experience is totally worth the trip!!
