The young witch who sent me here told me to sleep under the stars, nothing man made obscuring my view, if I really wanted to break the curse. But it was raining, and I was afraid. I slept in my car. Around 5:30 in the morning, my cat alerted me to a howling presence outside the vehicle. I felt no fear, as I sleepily peered out the windows, and was unable to catch a glimpse of the creature. I’m not sure if the howling being would have broken the curse, or the witch intended me some harm of her own, or if it was pure coincidence. Beautiful rainy forest on a mountain top, the trails are divine! The fog that rolled in during the afternoon was cleansing, if not entirely healing.

This is my favorite campsite in this area and I almost always stay here when I go to Seneca Rocks. It’s far enough from 33 that you won’t hear any traffic noise. Please note the road up the mountain is impassible until late March at least.

This is an incredible campground especially for just $5 a night! It’s pretty far out of the way so nothing but the sounds of nature and when we camped there was only one other campsite taken so very little noise to worry about. We had spot 6 which had an awesome view and rock formation right behind it (which you can definitely see why they call it bear heaven). Our site had a nice tent pad as well which is always an added benefit and lots of trees for setting up the hammock. There’s no available water and just a small bathroom but everything was really well maintained. It’s also very close to the otter creek trailhead which is a great hike but definitely be ready for a lot of mud if it’s rained recently. If you’re worried about the drive up to the campground I would add that it does get a little tight in some spots but for the most part it’s not hard to get around traffic going the opposite way. The drive up isn’t too steep either if that’s a concern. I would definitely recommend this campground and look forward to coming back again!

The Policeman aka Game Warden told us the place was "thick" with bears. Sadly, we missed them, but enjoyed hiking in the area and one campground, Herb, designated " Fairyland", a rather enchanting place. One trail led to a fire Tower accessible to explorers!

Otter creek at the bottom of the mountain. Has good swimming holes in places. The campground has spring water coming out if the left side of the road as you go up the mountain past the camp site
If you can get in there yes there's a 14 day limit
Yes the river is at the foot of the mountain. The fish hatchery is located near there as well that stock the rivers and streams.
Yes it will definitely. I take my pop up camper there alot. I have also seen some hard shells up there as well. We love it there, it is beautiful. You will love it as well.
This is a primitive campsite; no cabins.
