Lovely, but busy! There is a cool pool, a warm pool, and a very warm, small cave at the source of the spring. It is a bit if a hike (not a walk), but very doable even for younger children who can walk. It can be added to a day trip from Albuquerque. Remember to pack out anything you bring as this area is minimally developed and is on National Foreseat Service land.

Easy hike towards the hot spring. Quite scenic! We found the upper pool to be warmer.

What a wonderful little place! It was super cold when and snowing a little but the spring was warm enough to keep us warm. The real gem is the little cave at that top that you climb into and stay nice and warm!

A cute hot spring where you can get amazing photos *if* it's not crowded, which it usually is. The path up has a lot of small stairs to start then it's a rough/rocky path. It can get pretty muddy. I went in Nov/Dec (in a very dry year) and it was like walking in a muddy creek. The walk is pretty steep (you go down to the creek then follow the water back up the hill) but it's short to get to the springs. There are two small pools. The top pool is warmer and has a little cave that you can crawl into that is the heat source, so it's almost like a hot tub/sauna. There is enough room for about 3 adults to sit in there. The top pool is very rocky though and can kinda hurt. The bottom pool is muddy/slimy (so gentle in your feet) but not as warm, probably just above room temp. The water is only about 2/3.5 feet deep in either pool. About 1/2 ft in the cave. There are red bugs in the summer and fall buzzing around but they don't bite/sting. I know you asked and got a half answer 11 months ago but even in a "pandemic" they do not ban dispersed camping. You should look up the rule book for dispersed camping but there are no locations for it and they are everywhere outside of city limits except for private property. They are not camp grounds and they are legal up to 14 days in New Mexico.
Yes
Around 6000 ft. or 1829 meters
