I live in this neighborhood. 'Main Gate Square' is 1 of the hundred reasons I feel as if I live in Heaven most of the time! Starbucks there, is my "hangout". For 8 years; they.ve treated me like I've known them all my life! 'Geronimo Park' (next to Starbucks.) is a shady, peaceful, beautiful little park where I can read, meditate, etcetera. Another awesome coffee house is one block east in "the square", named 'The Hookah'! You can sit outside and watch the people go by. I'm not interested in smoking tobacco out of anything taller than I am. But, you just ask a barista to get you one (for a price.) And their espressos are the best in Tucson! And in the back...shhhh, is a 'Speak Easy'! The ambiance in the neighborhood style bar is the same Bohemian/1920's as the espresso bar in the front. And they are all kind to me! And one of the best ( 2nd ONLY to Time Market, which is only 3 blocks west of 'Main Gate Square') "New York' style pizza in our great city is in ' No Anchovy's Pizza, where you can buy it by the slice! And when I've had enough, or in a hurry to get errands done for the day; and don't feel like going home; I just jump on the trolley (that's stop is in the middle of the square) to downtown with stops on 4th ave. on the way. Just one more reason I LOVE Tucson!

If I understand it correctly, it's the main entrance/gates to the UofA campus.

This is right adjacent to/ in the middle of the University of Arizona campus so there are a number of casual eateries, coffee shops, boutique stores that are aimed at the young adult market. There are many diverse ethnic cuisines represented so good if you're in a group that can't decide what it wants to eat. It's a very walkable area and there is a nice park that has a fountain in the middle. Very much a college student vibe so if you're not into this type of scene don't come to visit. Parking is on the street of your lucky, otherwise there's a big deck just north of the main area.
