Market Hall Foods is the heart of Rockridge and the most vibrant food marketplace in Oakland or perhaps the entire East Bay. Let’s get it out-of-the-way: you don’t shop there for bargain eats. You shop there is a substitute for traveling the world for yummy food. For more than 30 years Market Hall Foods has imported some of the best sweet and savory foods from Europe and other countries as well as being famous for their locally made pastas, which are sold in other stores as well. Market Hall Foods is a great place to go to pick up salads or other deli food, cheeses and charcuterie for lunch or a picnic. They also try to find the most interesting and delicious food gifts from local, small producers as well as artisan food makers from around the world. Unlike most reviewers of this very special food store, which is across the street from BART, I am delivering you “insider” knowledge as someone who has worked there in the grocery department helping customers pick out perfect foods. Used to live near here. Greatest market. The cheese shop is the best. Smart people who really know their cheeses. Amazing selection! They will let you taste and help you decide.

A bit pricey but great product. Bread from the bakery was crusty on the outside with a tasty interior as one would expect. Got a quiche from the market which made for a great dinner with a nice green salad. Grilled some delicious lamb chops from the butcher as well. I am rarely disappointed with my purchases from the various vendors.

Undeniably the best in the Bay Area, according to visits I made all across metro SF couple years ago. May not be true today but it’s still shockingly fab. Go every couple weeks to Oakland store to stock my larder. 🧀🥩🍷

Market Hall Foods in Oakland and our location on 4th St. in Berkeley are open for in-store shopping where you can find freshly prepared food at the deli counter and grocery items. If you would like to take advantage of our Parking Lot Pickup option (Oakland only), orders must be placed online in advance to allow our team enough time to package your order.
Very sorry to say that the five wheels we got in this week were gone in a flash! We have more on order but since the international awards supply is very tight. We're hoping to get more next week so please check in at the Cheese Counter. Thank you.
Hi Gretchen. Yes, we do have our housemade Caesar dressing to-go! You'll find it in the grab & go refrigerated section. If you can't find it, just ask one of our staff. Then pick up some romaine (or kale!) at Market Hall Produce and you're good to go! Thanks for asking. - D
