For Blood Donation Center only… Staff was rude as hell. The nurse in charge during my donation assumed I was an immigrant and assumed I lived outside of the US. The nurse that set me up laughed out loud when she thought my arm veins were too skinny—and asked other nurses to come and check them out. For the record, I have been donating blood at American Red Cross facilities since high school, across the US. I have never been told or made fun of in such a way. I still donate platelets regular at another ARC facility. If not for the sake of donating blood to help others, I would have stormed out, blood spilling be damned.

I've been coming here, quite literally for decades. Never had an experience like last Tues. Got there at 1:05pm, my appointment was at 1pm. They warned me that the wait was about a half hour. Over an hour later, I left. There was a guy before me, who before I left asked the lady up front, that he had been there for *75* min, and he was still waiting, how much longer was it going to be? (His appt must have been at 12:45, and by now, it was after 2.) That's when I knew I wasn't going to be seen anytime soon. And then I get an email about a week later, "oops, sorry, sometimes life stuff gets in the way, sorry you missed your appointment," insulating that *I* missed my appointment, when it was they who had taken too long.

When the donations go well, they go very well. The staff are courteous and needle insertion uneventful. When it goes poorly, it goes VERY poorly, with the staff being neutral-kind and needle insertion missing with the attempted correction leading to severe internal arm damage. (Wiggling the needle at various depths, needle nearly poking out of the same side and poking into elbow bone and being wiggled BOTH TIMES repeatedly). Latest and last time two coworkers were called to assist and all continued the same painful/damaging and pointless tactics to reach the vein. I was quiet and grimacing during the procedure (my mistake) and the donation was cancelled due to how much blood had gathered under the needle. I was offered no pain meds, advice, or assistance. (This example was the worst, but wasn't the only experience like this) I have been in constant pain since, unable to lift any weight with that arm (it hurt to use a salt shaker today, 1 week later), and have a doctor visit scheduled next weak to survey the damage. P.S. I am very aware I should have spoken up at sometime, but I assumed they were trained and this was the standard way to address the missed vein. I am all to aware that I should have spoken up and/or told them to cancel the donation well before the injury and regret not doing so. P.P.S.The staff members I called about my issues were understanding and helpful, assuring me there would be more training to avoid issues like this.

This review is specific to blood donations office. Office is clean and perfect for donations. If you have travelled outside United States within three years or if you are non United States citizen then read the website if you can donate, or call up and confirm before visiting. Blood donations office timings are different than other offices of Red Cross.
