I've always been a fan of this store, even since when they were next to Raleys. I like the service and they hire knowledgeable, helpful, young people. I'm here happy with the kayaks we've bought here as well as the shoes and clothing. There are some premium brands here. I just wish they'd carry more of the men's stuff they used to. The selection is somewhat less than it used to be in that respect.

Totally amazing store. The selection is wonderful and the service is far superior to the "big box" outdoor stores (like REI). Great selection and they always have the best gear. I go frequently and often, keep it up guys. This is what local shopping should be like!!

Would rate 10 out of 5 if I could. For the people who don't like reading long reviews: Mountain Recreation is simply AMAZING, period. For those of you who want to know why: Mountain recreation has the nicest staff out of any business I know in Nevada County. All of them know a lot about various sport equipment, and they will help you find what fits you best size-wise and functionality-wise. They carry all the products you need for your outdoor adventures at the best price around. All of the items they carry in the store are top notch. If they happen to not have an Item in stock (i.e. a helmet for your sister for Christmas, or a certain ski binding) they will order it for you. On a whole other note, their ski repair and tune shop is the best in California. I've taken my skis to the ski resort shops, but not a single one of them can compare in price and quality. Mountain Recreation's shop is fast, efficient, and they don't cut corners on the job. Honestly, I'm in there every week to browse around or have them custom fit another pair of my boots or drill a new set of bindings on simply because I LOVE Mountain Recreation. To sum it up, Mountain Rec. has the best staff, best service, best knowledge, best quality, and best prices.

This place is amazing. I am always greeted with a smile and tons of product knowledge! No matter who is working. They are super sweet to my kids and even have a small but good kids section furnished with a basket of toys! You can rent Boga Boards, kyaks, snow equipment.... or, my favorite, just come in for an amazing pair of shoes or cute new workout pants! Way better than any chain store you might find in Roseville.
