I honestly don’t know where to begin. Let’s just say Domenic is what I hope for when hiring anyone of any profession. He is very knowledgeable, straightforward, clear, patient, not pushy, and goes above and beyond what is expected of him. At no point did I get the feeling that he was just out to get paid (which I can’t say about everyone during my home buying process.) I did my own research being a professor at a research university and everything Domenic told me over the phone aligned with what I read. He was willing to tell me when I did not need something and helped me from spending money on unnecessary things. He worked with me in a difficult situation where I had to deal with a mold issue on a home I hadn’t closed on yet. Unlike almost everyone else, he never harassed me with phone calls or texts, even when I went weeks without talking to him (because closing was talking very long.) He was willing to explain everything to me regardless of whether I even ended up hiring him. Nonetheless, my decision was made from the start. I hired Domenic and I’m very glad I did. At this point, he has already earned a 5 star from me. Then I brought up the only concern I had after the job. I was nervous to bring it up because I didn’t want to ruin the great relationship we had built up to that point but he happily and immediately took care of it. If I was going to give 5 stars before then he really deserves 6 now.

Called on a Saturday and had a visit on a Sunday. After being given a slippery run around from an area mold inspector, I wasn't sure what I should do. I was being pushed to spend $5,000 on a remediation without even having test results from the swab tests. Not knowing where to turn, I called Dominick who visited my house the next day on a Sunday afternoon to inform me that I had nothing to worry about. It was a harmless builders mold that would require no clean up. Incredible service, honest feedback, and quick response time, I would recommend his services to anyone needing inspections or remediation.

I called Affordable Remediation based on many positive referrals from local residents and from their positive reviews on Google. Dominick came to my house (on a holiday weekend, no less) to check out what we suspected to be mold. He confirmed our suspicions, but instead of trying to sell us on his services, he instead directed us to look into our homeowner’s insurance for coverage, explained the whole mold removal process and the best way to remedy it, and didn’t even charge us for coming out to evaluate our home. This guy was absolutely wonderful, professional, up front, and extremely knowledgeable. Thanks to him, we looked into our insurance, and sure enough we have some coverage. As soon as our claim is approved, we are having Dominick come back and remediate our mold issue. It’s rare to find a company with this much integrity, honesty and knowledge and we are grateful for the referral.

We asked Affordable Remediation Services to clean up some basement mold. Dominick came out very quickly to assess the job and scheduled the work for a few days later. The team was careful to protect the areas of house they walked through to get to the basement. They arrived on time and were finished in a few hours. They did a great job cleaning the basement rafters, concrete block walls and one problematic concrete block wall the needed to be painted. When finished, they cleaned everything up. They even came back to check on the painted wall. This company is very thorough and professional . Dominick and his team were fantastic and I will absolutely recommend Affordable Remediation Services.

If you are buying a home near the water and mold is present, or you notice mold shortly after moving in, you need to address it as soon as possible. The longer mold goes without remediation the more likely you and your loved ones are to suffer from a mold-related illness. At the same time, mold has the ability to gradually damage soft materials and infest things like carpeting and carpet padding, which can prove costly to repair. If you have noticed an existing or newly developed mold problem, you need to seek out professional mold remediation services. They have the tools, training, and equipment to quickly remove the mold and effectively treat any affected surfaces. What is the attic mold remediation methods? Can it make you sick?

Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020

Please see our attic mold FAQ. https://affordableremediation.com/mold-in-the-attic-faq-guide/ Typically mold is a problem with the roof with leaks that let in moisture. Between this, the heat, darkness and stagnant air, mold can grow pretty rapidly, even in the insulation. If your attic has ventilation that feeds into the house, mold spores can trave through your home, causing health issues. Properly treating the cause of the moisture, and a full remediation can prevent a recurrence of the mold problem.

Should I get a mold inspection when buying a new house?

Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020

Please see our article https://affordableremediation.com/your-home-inspector-found-mold-in-your-new-house-now-what/ Unfortunately, the presence of mold and the airborne spores isn’t always easy to detect. There are a few types of so-called “Toxic” mold that are known to produce mycotoxins, which on its own can cause respiratory issues, inflammation issues, rashes, seizures, and severe fatigue in some people. Fortunately, these toxic mold strains are somewhat rare. Depending on the severity of the mold problem, this could cost tens of thousands of dollars down the road. It's always best to have a proper mold inspection performed so you know what you are walking into. The last thing you would want is move into your home to only find out there is a big problem. Mold testing companies actively test the air, surface and physical inspections in and around the home with 3rd party independent laboratory testing.

How Can I Find & Remove Mold In My Carpet?

Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020
Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020

When mold becomes embedded in carpet fibers, it’s nearly impossible to get rid of. It can grow fast in any damp area in your home, and once it gets a foothold in your carpet, you have to put a significant amount of time and effort into getting rid of it. If you and your family are having a higher than average incidence of respiratory problems, asthma, or bronchitis, and the walls, floors, and basement of your home are otherwise mold free, your carpet may be the culprit. A damp carpet and possible leak from the floor underneath it is a good conduit for mold Learn more here https://affordableremediation.com/find-remove-prevent-mold-carpet/

What Causes Mold In Houses?

Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020
Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020

The vast majority of toxic mold species thrive within dark, moist, warm environments. In areas prone to high humidity, especially near large bodies of water or coastlines, mold can grow on walls and other surfaces over the course of as little as a few consecutive especially humid or rainy days. Moisture increases indoor humidity as it evaporates into the air, where it can linger and stagnate indefinitely without adequate ventilation to keep it circulating.Basements clearly illustrate two conditions that can quietly promote mold growth without needing any interference from the surrounding climate or weather conditions: simple condensation and poor ventilation. How Can I Prevent Mold In The Walls

Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020
Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020

Virtually any species of mold does its nastiest work where it can wallow undisturbed in its ideal level of moisture to be fruitful and multiply. A poorly maintained closet or wall makes an ideal incubator where a colony can foster quickly and prolifically before anyone catches on to its presence before it can wreak havoc on your home and any occupant’s health.Wall cavities often harbor pockets of moist, humid air that can nourish a full spectrum of species. Even on the outside, the organic debris frequently held on the underside of wallpaper by its glue provides a welcome food source on which mold growth can thrive. A combination of condensation, hidden water leaks within cavities and elevated humidity can give rise to troublesome mold growth within days. Be especially wary of walls forming the perimeter of your home, as they become especially prone to condensation due to the cool outdoor air. What Is Black Mold?

Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020
Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020

The most notorious variety of toxic black mold found in many U.S. homes, Stachybotrys chartarum, is easily identified by a musty mildew smell emanating from moist areas. When you hear American homeowners refer to “black mold” with grave concern as a single specific species, this is most likely the fairly common type they have in mind. When it grows inside HVAC ducts, its pungent signature aroma often only becomes detectable when the system turns on and circulates its mycotoxin-laced particulates. Fortunately, its tendency to dampen downward in search of moisture prevents its spores from contaminating the air as easily as those of other molds. Stachybotrys chartarum, in particular, earns its name by resembling patches or streaks of dirt. Learn more https://affordableremediation.com/what-is-black-mold/

Does Homeowners Insurance Cover Mold Remediation?

Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020

Depending on the cause, homeowners insurance can keep you covered if your home suffers water damage. It is likely that in the event of an unexpected internal problem, like a leaky pipe or broken dishwasher, you will be covered, but consult your policy before making that assumption, as policies can vary. Water damage caused by flooding is not intrinsically covered by homeowners insurance alone. If, however, you add flood insurance to your already existing homeowner’s policy, the water damage caused by flooding will be covered, and your home will be cleaned long before mold can take hold in your home. How Do I Get Rid Of Mold In The Bathroom

Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020
Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020

Mold thrives in damp, dark and isolated spots. Poor ventilation, a dripping showerhead, or leaky pipes only add to the problem as do certain materials such as wood, rugs, paper products, wallpaper, and grout. If you can see mold and/or smell it, chances are, you have it. If the infestation is not taking up too big of an area, you can clean it yourself, by stripping away any caulking or sealant with mold growth and cleaning your bathroom with mold killing products such as hydrogen peroxide, bleach, or vinegar. (But don’t mix these products together, as they can cause a toxic chemical reaction!) Finally, air out your bathroom and let it dry completely. If mold has seeped into walls and insulation and takes up more than 10 square feet of your bathroom, it’s time to call in a mold remediation specialist to do the job professionally.

What Are The Signs Of Mold Allergies?

Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020

If this colony develops in a place that’s out of view, like a storage closet, unused downstairs basement, crawl space of your attic, it will likely continue to grow unfettered. As time goes on, the growing colony will continue to release more and more mold spores into the air, which will look for a new home, while also increasing the density of mold spores throughout your home. A problem like this often manifests at first as a lingering, musty smell that you might even dismiss as damp air. As time goes on you, or other people living in the home might start to exhibit signs of respiratory irritation like a nagging cough, asthma attack, or increasing problems with respiratory allergies. Some people who react to mold will also suffer from persistent headaches when they are in the affected environment, as well as nausea, and potential issues with chronic inflammation.

The air quality in and around your home or office, as it relates to the health and comfort of the people inside, is referred to as Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). Mold is just one of thousands of pollutants that can affect the air you breathe indoors, and there are over 100,000 different types. Mold and mold spores adversely affect air quality indoors, and those suffering from its presence may be prone to irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat, and suffer headaches, dizziness, and fatigue. How Do I Remove Mold From Walls?

Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020
Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020

The most obvious sign of a mold problem is visible. Green, brown, orange or black spots on your walls pretty much signify there is an issue, but there are other, less apparent signs when of mold infestation. Cracked, peeling or discolored paint, wall bulging, or a musty, damp smell are all also signs of mold. If mold is already present, there are some natural approaches you can take. Clean the area with a mix of vinegar, borax, and water and wait two days to see if mold returns. If it does, try bleach and water next. However you decide to approach your mold issue, be sure and protect your hands with rubber gloves and wash your clothing in hot water to kill any mold spores that wind up on your clothes. Also, remember to ventilate the area well while you’re working. Learn more https://affordableremediation.com/remove-mold-walls/

Make sure to check all materials before you start using them—even if you live in a dry climate—to determine if they were handled and transported properly. Manufacturers usually wrap materials with moisture resistant protection, but sometimes it still gets through. Most suppliers will offer a window of time for inspection, and possible rejection, of materials. Once you’ve proved your materials are safe and moisture free, store them in a dry, covered place that has a roof and is a few feet off the ground. Wrap the materials with plastic sheets, but not too tightly, as moisture can build over time. Your best bet is also to limit storage time, so order your materials right before they are going to be used. Learn more https://affordableremediation.com/prevent-mold-new-home-construction/

How Can I Prevent Mold In The Winter?

Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020
Affordable Remediation & Emergency Services | Aug 27, 2020

Mold needs moisture and darkness to proliferate, and winter is primarily wet and dark. It is one of the best times of year for fungi to grow and multiply. Also, fix any known leaks, dry out the moisture in your home, clean the mold affected areas and remove and dispose of items that can’t be cleaned. Fungi thrives on quick-to-decompose items such as books, piles of loose papers, or boxes of clothing. If you’re storing those things long-term, pick an area away from external walls or windows that invite condensation. Even in freezing temperatures (below 32° Fahrenheit), mold is still a living organism. Mold spores can survive very extreme environmental conditions. They lie dormant in in extreme cold, but at the hint of a thaw, they will grow once again, outdoors or even in your freezer. Low, or freezing, temperatures do NOT kill mold—even if it lies dormant for an extended period of time. Learn More https://affordableremediation.com/prevent-mold-winter-months/
