We had a department picnic here. We used the pavilion and took tours of their gardens and orchard. There is no shade (other than the pavilion) and it was hot. Bring lots of sunscreen. The tours were very informational and they are happy to answer any questions. Be aware though, they only have two portapotties and one of them, the seat was broken. They have biking and hiking trails m, but again, no shade.

Hidden Mesa is great for beginner/intermediate mountain biking. You can start at the top or bottom. There are trail options for less skilled riders and plenty of rocks and ledges to practice on if you want to hone your skills. It's not a long trail so it may get boring for some. The climb up from the Parker Road lot is partly paved (cherry creek trail) and not too interesting until you get to the fork where you choose between pleasant pass and rocky pass but it's a good warmup.

A lot of potential at this park, but many community built MTB trails are closed off with barriers which is a bummer. Fun place to go hiking if you don't mind a lot of MTB traffic. Great access for gravel biking on the nearby gravel roads.

Awesome running/biking/hiking trails close to Castle Rock and Parker. Beautiful at all times of the year. It's never very crowded and offers pretty good views from the top. If you start from Parker road you get several hundred feet of elevation gain which is great if you're trying to get a quick workout in. As others have mentioned the loop is about 7.5 miles starting and ending at the parking lot. The trail includes some good, semi-technical sections for mountain biking if you so choose. I would recommend the "pleasant pass" descent route whether you are biking or running, and you get some hill flow to get in to a good rhythm for some fun

Yes!

Our little ones can only manage hikes. Is it possible to get to the top of the Mesa and back to the trailhead in this short of a distance?

You can park at the top of you need to, a lot of mountain bikers like to ride here though
