Great spot to launch your adventure. There's RV and tent camping at the trailhead as well as several more tent sites further down the trail. They've simplified paying for your parking ($5) and camping ($15) fees by adding a solar powered kiosk that accepts credit cards (you might want to take a picture of your license plate before you go to pay, as you'll need it). Of course the mountains, rivers, and trees need no review.

One of my favorite camping spots in the state

Weather cooperated with a cooling breeze. Always a great hike but what a disappointment to find that the beaver pond had been drained.

Nice and manageable gradient on the trail, so the hike isn't all that strenuous up to the 3 mile marker. A lot of fun with some nice views of the valley.

Questions & Answers

Is there plenty of spots to refill our water packs with our filter? We’re looking to go backpacking.

The trail tends to stay near water as it follows it up the canyon so you should be ok generally
