We took the night train which runs once a year, I believe. It's lit by oil lamps in the beautifully restored coach, which offers quite a unique experience, and really feels like stepping back in time. Partway through the ride, they stopped the train to let us switch to the open air car, where we could lay on our backs and look at the stars while the train moved. The volunteers who make this experience possible are the best, and they are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating.

Fun place to check out and learn about the railroad system that ran through Phillips.

Even though it was pretty hard to get too, it was still well worth the trip. Had a great time yesterday here with my dad and a friend of his, it was especially amazing learning about the history of this railway before it became what it is today. The staff were really nice to us and they did a great job of giving us the whole tour of the area and explained the whole history of the railway, on the way back, I asked and I got permission from engineer Sharon to ride in the cab of engine #4 all the way back to the depot. I will definitely come back here again in the near future when ever any special events happen, thank you guys especially for letting me ride in the cab as well!
