This review is for Pierce's frame shop who was tasked with a few framing projects from me. An artistic eye is something I'm lacking but I wanted to make an heirloom piece using shells I collected with my son from our annual trips to Martha's Vineyard. Chris, from Pierce's frame shop, took the time to make some great suggestions on using a nicely beachy colored matte paper to glue the shells onto. He gave me the paper and some additional supplies for the project. His advice was super helpful in making a beautiful piece. He then picked out a really nice frame for it which brought the seaside theme nicely together. Chris also helped me pick out some beautiful frames for a couple of Indian-inspired artwork I had. The finished, framed pieces went beyond my expectations. I'm so grateful I had a chance to work with him.

I love this store! I go there for "Prisma Color Premier colored pencils. This store has a huge variety of this brand of colored pencils. Including Very Fine Prisma Color pencils. A super benefit to the store's customers. If there's a color they don't have. They will special order colors you want! Now, that's what an awsome store is all about. The store has a whole lot more than just colored pencils. Big, paint department. And more! Awsome Store!

I came to the Guild art supply store today after several years of not having visited. This is one of the very few art supply stores in the area; I live in Springfield and it’s hard to find art supplies outside of what Michael’s or Joannes carries. I walked in and at the store seems kind of empty. Paint shelves are empty, The art boards and paper shelves have very little merchandise on them, there was no canvas that was not stretched. When I asked the young lady if they were closing she said no in an aggressive manner and then I said I came looking for canvas and she said “oh they’re all in this aisle.” Pointed to the pre-stretched canvas, of which the smaller sizes were all out. There were only large size canvas greater than 14 x 18.I came looking for unstretched canvas so I could do it myself. She said they were just out. That was a very unpleasant experience. I wish it hadn’t been, I feel like maybe they’re tired of being asked the same questions, but I am a new customer that hasn’t been in there in a long time and I don’t think that they should talk to their customers that way. And by the way I am very pleasant and I worked in retail for many years so I know how hard it is to deal with customers. Definitely will never return. I’ll order online from Utrecht or Blick or I’ll make the drive to Rhode Island. I’m sure it will be a much more pleasant experience. For now I’ll just make the drive to Michael’s, the people there are nicer.

The Bower Studio

For such a little shop, Guild Art Supply has a great selection. I was excited to see the wide range of inking supplies they carry. They have items that are hard to find at other art stores and things that Michael's never, ever carries. So glad this shop is here!!
