Litterally the worst people who work for the government and that is saying alot. They are unprofessional by hanging up on you giving you wrong and inaccurate information. irrational no one with sense would take this long (5 months) just to get a silly liscense and just gate keep you away from the profession you worked so hard to get to. It is depressing because I have bills to pay and i need my liscense since 3 months ago. This is way worst then the DMV or post office for sure. You just need to be on top of them.

Expect the worst. They will delay matters as long as possible, blaming COVID for said delay, with no recourse but for you to send an email “which will be answered in the order it was received.” People’s jobs and livelihoods are on the line here, and they seemingly don’t care. The phone line gives no answers, no option to speak to someone regarding license renewal, and literally refuses to do so, telling callers to throw an email into the void instead. They cashed my application check over 8 weeks ago, and somehow haven’t done anything else.

Wow. Completely terrible experience. I have been in NY for several months as a travel nurse. I applied months before arriving. Getting in touch with these people is next to impossible. I am in NY for another 9 days. Nurses can only call in on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Right now I am 121 in line by phone. At least I finally got through. The first half of the day it rang once then rang busy. Perhaps they should open up their hours a bit. Maybe add a day or 3 for nurses to call in. I am beyond frustrated. I am also a veteran (now a generally happy and helpful civilian) and earned my LPN license through Amedd Center & Schools. This required an additional piece of paperwork, which I downloaded from the NY BON site. It was the incorrect form, according to Amedd C&S. I have since acquired the correct form and have submitted it. I have also wasted days of my life on hold at this point, with little to no information received. One out of over a dozen people I talked to at least attempted to be helpful and kind. Apparently customer service has limited abilities as well. There is no way to check the status of an application online - and either the customer service professionals need further training in order or they need further access to be helpful. We have the technology, and many other states have the ability to let the customer check and see what is holding up the process. I paid over $300 to get service here, and I have received nothing in over 4 months. Oh and the site says you can email for a status update. NO ONE EMAILS YOU BACK. They only send a confirmation auto-email that says they got your request and then included is: STATUS UPDATES FOR LICENSE APPLICATIONS ARE NOT PROVIDED OVER THE PHONE. For the love of everything holy and good, PLEASE FIX YOUR SYSTEM.

The State Board for Public Accountancy (ext 160) has been wonderful every time I call. After submitting my CPA application after passing all the exams, I call and check to make sure they have everything. They have been great so far and I've been told that they have all my information now and that I should be receiving my certification within 2 months vs. 4-5 months that I've previously been told. Shout out to Matt who has been extra nice and easy to talk to on the phone. Today I spoke to a girl, I didn't get her name but she was great as well.

To become a License clinical social worker you must have a MSW and take the exam to become LMSW and then 3-6 years of clinical experience and then pass the exam to become LCSW. If you have a LMSW already and was supervised by a PhD or LCSW for 2,000 hours post LMSW you could apply for LCSW.
