This place is ok the thing I didn't like is if you have to drop off paperwork to a specific department then you have to get a number and wait in line. Now I don't mind just remember if you have to drop off make sure you don't have nothing else planned

I feel that the staff at DSS picks and chooses who they want to be helpful to. If you are someone with medical limitations and/or have a psychological disorder, their staff act as if they are not trained and usually don't display patience when handling people with these conditions. They often tend to cater to Caucasian people. I'm not saying they are not ever rude to Caucasians, just they normally don't give them a hard time like they do any other race/ nationality. Also they are quick to assume that you are just trying to collect a check or free food stamps, before they even find out if you are disabled and/or can't work. Prior to having a list of medical issues, I worked 2 to 3 jobs at a time. I can't physically do it anymore. Otherwise I wouldn't even bother putting myself through this ordeal. Unfortunately the few that are actually doing their job have to pay for the incompetence of the staff members that are slacking on their end. People with a special need or physical limitations shouldn't have to appear in person to get their needs met. When you call, there is no one to speak to get help, just a machine. Most of the times calls aren't returned. Also I have handed in paperwork that the staff there has lost and had to fill out and resubmit paperwork do to their negligence.

My first time ever applying for snap I received emergency I faxed ever necessary paperwork never got a call back so I called back then I was told that they couldn’t see one paper so no one called me they just put I failed to give in necessary documents witch was a lie … then I was told it was being fixed and it wasn’t Bc when I called again I received a call back and was told a worker was assigned my case and was working on it she call me as soon as possible and I never received a call that was last year ..

I was pretty much verbally abused by a dss supervisor (named Cathy. Btw I recorded the call & I'm looking into filing a complaint). She could have been projecting but it was unprofessional. I battle depression; I'm thankful the day we spoke I wasn't on the edge b/c what she said would have pushed me over. God knows what she has gotten away with. She should not be working with ppl in need. This place deserves no stars.

Yes they close for lunch at 12 or 1pm then return back to work. 1 hour break
Go there with 3or 4paystubs. All your ppr work to verify your identity
Why can't DSS transfer your case to wherever you are moving to?
Its extremely hard to actually reach a human there! You can check your case online at NyBenefits.gov or go to the Dss building. If you have Medicaid, you can set up a cab to take you there and back threw M.A.S.
If you work and get paid weekly, bring your last 4 weeks of paystubs if its bi-weekly you will need the last 2, a lease or rent receipt. If you need any additional documents they will give you 10days to turn them in.
It closes from 12 PM - 1PM for lunch. Then it's open until 4:30 PM.
Just go into the office ask to speak to a supervisor and then state that you would like to file a compliant and they walk you thru the steps or if you want a fair hearing there is a number on the application.
ok?
Just walk in , go to line 6, and they will be able to tell you if you owe any money back and how much.
Go online search for DSS record- it would ask you for the name and state, it should provide you With information/ or consent form stating that you can represent him
They do answer, they are open ,they do keep it as safe as possible, they have sprays ,hand sanitizer, keeping the mask on ..but I know they have to sanitize the areas more, the bathrooms a must... having those items..they need to use them more..your right though about the calls, some questions may be answered by just going there, getting the help you need, have friends that work there . keeping their areas safe. Knowing the covid-19 situation
I would still update it with Social Services. If you don't receive food stamps, Medicaid or any other services from social services, then that should be enough.
According to my google they are, call if u can get thru its seems like there mailbox is full
It is open today.
In person
Im not sure what this is. Your best bet is to look at the ny.benefits page or go there in person.
Im Assumin a person that works there. She sent my fiance YUSAS Carr a paper sayin to go there upon his release from WYOMING CORRERTIONAL FACILITY.
I believe dss stops doing in takes around 330
I dont have an answer for that question. That is a question for the worker who interviewed you.
If you needed it right away, then you have to ask them to expedite your food stamps. There are many good pantries to go to like salvation army, bethesda house, and sicm. You can get a list from Dss for them.
That is something you have to personally apply. If you work-make sure you have pay stubs, receipts and other documentation-rent receipts etc. In the past they have paid for a transmission for one of my vehicles. Hopefully, this information helps.
Go to Department of Social Service
You Can call the number on the back of ur card or go down 2 the office
8am to 5 pm
No
Yes they do.
I have never seen one
Apply for SMHA, at 375 Broadway,
How many kids does she have? Because if she has a lot it will definitely be a hotel. But you cant really say where she is "likely" going to go if she has 1-2 kids because it depends on the space they have available in the shelters. I can say that with all that i have heard and my personal experience there is VERY limited shelter space so the majority of families go to hotels.
City mission can help you with a place to stay and meals. They can also guide you to available resources for people in your situation. They also have apartment share program where you have roommate(s) to split the cost of rent and utilities.. good luck
Of the children are in your custody, just go and apply for emergency temporary assistance. They will help you with food, rent, security deposit, and some other things.
No unless you just applied for them or didn't get the rectification paperwork.
I don't understand why they give out the number because nobody answers it's just better to go down instead of getting a headache of trying to sit at home and call all day with no response
I take it by your question, your son is a legal adult? There is one place that I know of, but is the last place on Earth anyone would want to be. It is the old hotel or motel whatever you want to call it next to what used to be the old ground round which is now whatever restaurant it is turning into. It is across from the advanced auto parts in Schenectady. Hope this helps.
Yes they will
It is much faster going there
Explain to your caseworker why and the truth
