I am extremely disappointed. My husband and I went to join our family on the train ride. When booking there was no warning or Q&A about handicap accessibility. My husband is an amputee and gets around rather well. The seats we got were supposed to be the better seats. There was no ramp. There was no leg room his prosthetic. Wouldn’t fit in the area for leg room. Not the other passengers fault. We asked for options and they said sorry were full and kept working. We ended up having to get off the train and leave because of the issue. The train service wouldn’t refund us and wouldn’t fix the issue. I understand it’s not their fault he has one leg but there’s no description or accommodating help for people to get on. So if you have a kid with a wheel chair I’d discourage you from trying to go on this. You’ll loose your money.

So we were super stoked to do this train and well we should had known better when we went on line and it was the worse website ever. So we booked our tickets on line after my wife had called multiple times and left a message with no return call. We booked and I did will call tickets so we show up to get out tickets and the lady did not even have a clue just got to the train. We booked for the table car because the executive car was full. Well when we walked up they said we don’t book the table car so we went to the executive car not full at all. Hell the whole train was empty. There is not executive about the car except better seats. No food back here we have to walk 4 cars or so down to get it and so at that point you might as well pay the 15 or so for a regular car with nice seats. You see nothing on the train ride at all. Just got to the park. This is the biggest waste of money you will spend. And by the way all the cars smell like mold.

Once a year, you can catch the steam engine. You still ride in the same cars for coach. If you get a deal, go for it! I do wish the windows were better, they could use an update for sure. But it's a train! Kids always get a kick out of it. Check out their special events too.

We had a good time! We boarded in Akron and opted to not get off the train. The ride to Rockside and back was enjoyable and took just about 3 hours. We rode in the dome car which has terrific views, but depending on what time of year you go can get quite warm, even with the A/C running. When you purchase tickets you're assigned a seat, but when you're boarding the trainmen tell you to pick an empty seat. This could mean that your group is split up. At least until the next stop, Peninsula, Akron and Rockside being the ones where most people board. All in all it was an enjoyable way to kill a few hours and we look forward to going back for the steam run in September.

I do not understand how you can get on and off and back on at the various stations when it looks like there are only trains going northbound and southbound twice during the day - how can one do that?

It is not easy unless you take a bicycle. Some stops are longer than others too, but not long enough for real exploring. We took the advice of the conductor and spent time in Peninsula. We then used our car to visit the other areas. The train ride was pleasant, but not a hop on, hop off type of schedule.

We're coming down from Western New York & Southern Ontario. Is this type of thing you can/need to purchase tickets in advance before we come down? Not sure if it's likely to sell out.

Not likely to sell out. But it is recommended to get the tickets especially if it's for the weekends oh, and the weather is nice.
