Really nice trail with a chipper little stream at the beginning and some great views later on. Outbound is a not too aggressive uphill for quite some miles which also means it's downhill all the way to the car. And it's 3 minutes from Spelunkers. Win Win.

Easily accessible place to start a moderate-difficulty day hike in Shenandoah, and especially solid during off-peak season. Multiple loop options, from a couple miles to 5+ mi. Due to its proximity to the park entrance, I can see this becoming especially crowded during peak season and have so far stuck to visiting from late fall - early spring.

Food was good, little expensive but good. The staff was very welcoming and friendly.

Nice trail with a stream that flows along the left side as you ascend. It's a short trail that's not complicated, but has a decent feel to it. If you can park along the main road, you can slip onto the trail with ease.

Questions & Answers

Are there easy access picnic tables. How many? Are there bathroom facilities near the picnic areas?

At the Dicky Ridge Trailhead at the edge of the park, there are neither picnic tables nor bathrooms; however, at the Dicky Ridge Visitor Center inside the park (Skyline Drive Milepost 4.6), there are many picnic tables and restrooms.
