I left my MacBook at the TSA security check at the airport. And later found it on the claims website, I filed a claim and waited a couple of weeks but never got a response. So I went into the office and was able to pick it up with no hassle - just make sure you have your claim number, and any way to prove that the item is yours. Unfortunately the airport has thousands of items lost, and this system seems quite inefficient. I hope this review will help anyone else in finding their lost item.

My laptop was taken by mistake at the TSA checkpoint by another passenger (he left is own laptop). I filed a report with Lost and Found including the make, model and serial number...I never heard back. Weeks later it was turned back in and they sent me an email to a different email address. The contact number is useless as you can never process anything or get to a real person. Responding back to the email has also yielded nothing (offered to pay any shipping and handling costs). Now I'm having to fly back to LAX just to have a chance at getting my property back. This service is practically useless.

I lost a backpack in the airport while returning home. I filed a report, I checked the website a couple days after and saw the item was found. The airport posts items they have located. I then filed a CLAIM file on my specific item. I have not heard back from anyone since. I’ve called the number on the website and apparently it is a police station that does not deal with the lost and found items. There also is no phone number for them as they only reply through their online service ..... 2 months later and it’s clear they do not respond through that outlet either. I’ve spent over $300 replacing something in that backpack that is not lost but just the cause of them not doing their job. Keep up the great work 👍🏾.

After waiting a week for a response to a lost item report I filed to claim my item (which was pictured on their website), I sent a courier service to retrieve it since there is no way to speak to a person by phone. The number for the lost and found is automated and the main LA Airport PD Dispatch will not connect callers to a human being. The courier service put me on the phone with the officer who told that once they link the lost item report to an item in their possession, they will send the owner an email with the option to have the item shipped it to the owner at the owner's expense or release it to an authorized representative. To release the item, the owner must provide a copy of his/her driver's license and written authorization. Unfortunately, it sounds as if it takes a very long time to receive a reply via their automated system. If you can send a luggage courier or a family or friend, you are much more likely to get your item. It's a horribly inefficient system.
