Fascinating location, natural large caves with loads of sea lions chilling about. It's fun because you can also enjoy some popcorn as you walk around. Be prepared though, if you go down the 200 foot elevator into the caves, the smell is AWFUL. We couldn't stay down very long, but I got some footage to go back and review and it's still worth it. Very friendly staff. Oh and it might also be windy on the way to the elevator.

As someone who has seen Sea Lions up close and personal in the Galápagos Islands this is still great! The animals are beautiful and you can (hopefully) see them in two locations. We recommend bringing binoculars or a camera with great lenses (200 mm +) for good views of the sea lions. While they say it’s only 37 steps to down, you still have to walk up and down hills for the views. This IS handicapped accessible if you can get down the 37 steps or they have another option for that.

Yes, I think it's worth a stop at least once. I enjoyed the Sea Lion Caves. This was my second time here. The history of this sea grotto is interesting along with the serene yet entertaining cave viewpoint. It can have a slight tang in the aire but hey its sea lions in a grotto. Also a nice view of the Heceta Lighthouse, which is worth a stop as well. The view of the Pacific is wonderful. Also the tour is accessible for folks of different mobility. Offers a nice gift shop as well that sells fresh popcorn.

Very cool experience. I loved the Sea Lion Caves as much as I loved the history and construction of the elevator. There was nobody else there when I went so that played a big role in my overall enjoyment. In the summer I bet it's a mad house. Lots of Sea Lions because it's the winter months. 💙

As long as you're prepared for Oregon Coast Weather so the little ones stay warm, it will be a unique experience for any age. Remember, there is a short walk down a cement path to the caves which is a bit of a climb on the way back up the hill so having a little water with you won't hurt. Also, there might be a couple of times where those little legs might need a rest to make the entire way up or down so i would be ready when you see there arms raise up to you for assistance. Thank goodness there's benches along the way for intermittent rests. Keeping in mind that personalities are different for every young person. There is an elevator ride to get into the caves which isn't huge and depending on number of people, the amount of lions in the cave and simply those possible first time fears of seeing something interesting for the first time it should allow for some great photos with a few smiles. Information can always be found on weather and other important need to knows by calling.
$14 each for adults n $7 for kids.. I think the ticket is valid for 1 year..
Yes. Have to wear mask at all times
No, they do not have gift certificates.
I was just there 6 days ago. They are not in the cave right now. Especially in warm times and sun they are outside on the rock. Usually November until March they are in the cave. They have a monitor in the gift shop to see if they are in before you purchase your tickets.
Just phone them... front desk will tell you where they are.
