I had a horrible experience with an employee named Rick. He could not articulate how or where he wanted me to park - he kicked a pylon and told me repeatedly to go forward and then turn around and back in but as soon as I started to do what he said, he would change his mind. He told me I must have just learned to drive and that he’d have to give me something easy to do ( I’m a physician who has driven accident free for 30 years!). He was just off the wall. I finally just ignored him and parked, he then apologized for his outburst. I was sorry that my family had to experience this at such a beautiful place. I wish we would have video’d him tho - he was very unstable and should not be working with the public

NOT RECOMMENDED! 1. Communication that we need a reservation to park was bad. A sign at the start of the park said “reservation required” , but how on earth should a tourist know, that this refers to parking (...and not to the usual context like camping, hotels etc.)!! So you drive up there for 20 minutes just to learn that you needed a reservation and you can just get it outside of the park. Really??? 2. The streets are narrow, curvy and steep. We were driving behind a cyclist and did not pass, as we couldn’t see the behind the curves in front of us. A car (looked like a car of the national park) started tailgating and honking at us, trying to pressure us into passing the cyclist. To a national park, in which the employees do not put the safety of their visitors first, we do don’t want to go.

Online booking does kinda sucks... when on vacation one doesn’t know traffic patterns so my first booking was cancelled due to being “late” refunded my tickets but not parking pass $8 .... booked again & finally made it... it beautiful hike...

This is the a review of the parking situation only, and NOT of the woods or the park. Parking reservations are great, and I'm all for it, but they need to be more flexible. I have guests coming from Montana and their flight out last night was cancelled due to forest fire smoke. They're re-booked to arrive tonight at midnight, which will make getting to our Muir Woods parking reservation tomorrow by 10am challenging. So, I called to see if I could change it to the next day. I just looked, and because it's during the week, there are TONS of available arrival windows available every day. But, YOU CANNOT CHANGE A RESERVATION. You can only cancel it, and re-book. And, if you don't cancel within 72 hours, you lose your money. Now, I'm just not sure what will happen to the two entrance fees I pre-paid as well...
