Do not rent here unless you want to live with pests and be constantly disturbed by the false fire alarm!! One month after I moved in, I found an unknown pest running out of the cracks of the wall! A few months later, 2 silverfish were in the bathroom and a cockroach comes from the back of the oven. I requested pest control, and they have sprayed the bathroom and kitchen. Yet, two days ago, 1 cockroach was found in the closet under the sink of the bathroom. Today, 1 cockroach was on the electric cooking stove and 1 cockroach was in the sink. I cleaned my apartment every day, and do deep cleaning every week. I am pretty sure, the poor construction of the building and the cracks in the wall is the reason for having the pests. The fire alarm system was broken for a while. It woke me up at 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. within a week. 3 false alarms for one day at the peak. They have recently fixed it, but still, I went through a frustrating period. The staff is great here. However, I strongly recommend you rent another apartment. I can't wait to move out, and sad to have to live here for another 2 more months.

Loved Eighth and Grand when Greystar was running it. Joey was great—super friendly and helpful. It recently was switched over to Brookfield Properties and they are trash. I pay more in rent for a flexible month-to-month lease, but for some reason I still have to give a 60 day notice to move out (vs the 30 day notice set forth in California law). AND NO: this 60 day notice is not specifically stated in the contract. There actually is no month-to-month contract. What a joke! They'll try to take advantage of you and take your money on your way out.

The apartment itself was ok, definitely not luxurious or worth the price tag. The hallways smell like dog urine, elevators and garage doors frequently not working, the maintenance was slow and the small problems in our unit never got fixed in the 13+ months we were living there. All that is bad, but the biggest issue was the treatment of their residents, especially during the move out (seems like a common trend based on the reviews) - They wanted to charge us a 25% rent increase to go month to month, this is extremely predatory and forces you to either sign a new lease or move out. If you decide to move out, they have a 60 DAY NOTICE policy, that is kept quiet and was not properly disclosed when we moved in. As mentioned this is to get that extra month of rent. Don't expect your security deposit back, they charge a $135 cleaning charge no matter what. Plus, numerous random charges that we are currently disputing. Our utility bills mysteriously doubled in price on our final move out bill. The invoice they mailed us didn't match the ledger they have on file...all very unprofessional. This building is designed to make money, they don't care about their residents, you are a price tag - buyer beware. But hey, at least they have a cool rooftop pool and Whole Foods below is great. ~
