Awesome team. Everything done on schedule, easy to work with, great communication. Passed inspections first time, and crews were courteous, clean and respectful, besides being totally knowledgeable. Beat contract of more than 6 solar companies we interviewed, highly competitive price wise and because they are a manufacturer as well as installer, you know they stand behind their product.

I chose solarmax back 2016 because they had the most reasonable price. The installation took over 7 months (some of it is due to SDGE). And the installation was not without problems/issues/and many phone calls. The good news is that once it was installed, we didn't have any problems, until April of 2022. The bad news is that once you have a problem, they will leave you high and dry for months... The system broke down in April, 2022. SunRun Notified me that the system is not working about 1 week after the system is down. and I then notified SolarMax and got someone out in about 2-3 weeks. Someone did show up and found that the inverter needs to be replaced. Now it is June, and they system is still down... someone was supposed to come yesterday, someone did, and did nothing and left. I would not recommend going with SolarMax... I will update this review with how long it actually takes them to fix the system... ------------------------------------------------------ Update After posting this review and another one in yelp. Solar Max did contact me and had the inverter replaced within a couple of days. The installer that came were very courteous, and informed me of what they were going to do. So I updated the rating to 3.5 stars.

Their installation process was quick, but when it comes to service it was so slow. I've been having issue with their system for 2 year now and technician could not fix the issue, Earth/Ground fault which has been an issue since last year. I had almost 20 ground faults this year and my downtime is almost 30 days. Everytime I call for service it takes 2 weeks to get a technician, poor service. For solar owners, always check you production report daily, make sure your panels performs to its maximum output. You could be loosing money from your system and not knowing it, Solarmax does not check your solar production, it is the owner responsibility after the project completion.

Amazing work! Both fantastic and prompt service, and Dan is stellar. Any questions I have are very quickly answered in a way that is clear, concise and easy to understand. For example, I was recently confused as to why my system's (momentary) production output (6.4kW) did not equal the system size rating (8kW), and if that was even a beneficial metric by which measure. They explained that the system size rating is based on laboratory conditions which include like being at the equator on the summer solstice in perfect weather, etc... in other words, unlikely conditions for most installed systems. Additionally, you'd never expect a 1k horsepower engine to actually perform at that rating after being placed in a car, because there is loss at every transfer point. After this discussion I understood that production/time (kWh) is the more valuable metric by which to gauge your system's performance, and given that: mine is "crushing it"-- to use Dan's phrase. :) Very Happy in Apple Valley!

Not exactly sure what offer you're referring to. But currently in Southern California we are offering a 15 panel system for only $69 a month. After you factor in the 30% Federal Tax Credit you are paying only $2.90 per watt for solar. This is not a lease, you own the system! Because SolarMax manufactures solar panels, has in-house financing and in-house installers, all the middle-men have been eliminated and the savings are incredible. We pass all the savings on to our customers and that's why we can offer solar for only $69 a month.
The main factors in the time it takes to complete a solar installation really depends on what city you live in, if you have an HOA and which utility you get your electricity from. Each has their own permitting and inspection process. Some are fast and efficient, while others have longer time frames for approving permits or scheduling inspections. The SolarMax team is pretty efficient and doesn't waste any time with all the work of permitting, inspections and applying for rebates on your behalf. The actual solar panel installation only takes 2-3 days. It's all the other stuff that takes the majority of the time. All that said, you can expect the whole process to take 2 to 3 months realistically.
