Palm Sunday Mass was beautiful. The blessing of the palms, the processional into the church, the congregation singing their praises to the Lord our God all made me feel so welcomed.

The Catholic church here in Junction, not sure of the address. I had gone to a little mini indoor flee market there at one time and the ladies were selling homemade items such as jewellery, hats, blankets and much much more. I had a blast and I didn't leave empty handed. I will find out when their next one is and post for you the dates, time and whereabouts. Now write me back people so I don't forget I need help sometimes too especially with my busy days and thank you, have a wonderful day.

Too bad they don't offer a 5 or 530 mass like other churches

This review is based on how I was treated by parishoners at St. Helen's Church during their rummage sale on June 9, 2018. I am an upstanding citizen in my community. I help the homeless when I can. I support local merchants. I am an honest and compassionate human who cares about the planet. I am an intelligent person with 4.5 years of college behind me. I raised a grown daughter as a single parent, and I live in a lovely condo in Eugene. But I am on a very tight budget and I buy things (especially clothing) second hand because it is affordable, and because it helps my local community. I drove the 25 minutes to Junction City today based on the ad that was running in the Eugene Register Guard, which said the sale was going from 9-4 today. I arrived about 2:15. Upon entering I was told that it was $5 to fill a grocery bag so I started perusing. I filled one bag and a woman approached asking if I needed another. I accepted. As I continued shopping it became apparent that this woman was perturbed by how much I was able to put into my shopping bags. At one point she actually confronted me and asked me what I was doing, asking if I needed a third bag. Her exact words were, "O.k. What are you doing over here?" I was near the corner where the clothing rack was and had items draped over my arm. I felt cornered. I told her I was just making a pile but I was trying to keep it to two bags. I cannot remember her comment but she was clearly irritated with me. I continued shopping and I could hear her talking about me at check out. Prior to that I had told the woman taking cash that they called me an expert packer at the airport once--it was in response to her saying she couldn't believe I fit all the stuff I had into the bags I was given. It is not fun to be within earshot of people who are talking about you as if you have done something wrong. If you are unhappy with the amount of items that some people can fit into bags, maybe you shouldn't offer the $5 per bag sale. At 3:10 they were already halfway through packing up and it was clear they wanted to finish. I was under the assumption that the sale went until 4, based on your ad, but I stopped and went to the checkout, where my two full bags awaited me. I said I'd found a couple extra pieces and asked what they wanted for them. The perturbed woman (and she will know exactly who she is if she reads this) accused me of having three bags worth in the two bags. How ridiculous is that? She had watched my every movement like a hawk and, yes, I will admit, I know how to pack a bag to fit a lot of stuff. I corrected the perturbed woman, saying, "No, I have two bags worth and that was the deal that you offered me when I walked in the door." So she snapped at me. "$12," she said. And I paid. Normally, at the end of a sale like this, I give extra money to support the community. I go to St. Helen's' sales every year, and every year I give extra. Not a lot: last year I have an extra $5, but it's something. Today I made it clear why I was NOT going to give extra money. This woman humiliated me openly. She followed me around and hounded me. As a 56 year old person it was very uncomfortable. She had the nerve to ask me if I thought I had $10 worth of goods in those bags. I asked her if that was Christian behavior. Her answer was, "do you want the bags or not?" I told her I did want the bags but that wasn't my point. I made it clear again that I always give extra money at the end of the transaction but not this year. She said, "I'm fine with that." Then she said, "but don't judge the church based on my actions. It's just me." That woman made a big stink about me being an expert packer because she didn't like how much I fit in those bags. But there they all were, packing it all up to give to a thrift store, where people in need shop. I guess that is a bit of irony for you. As I left they were still talking about me. Christian hypocrisy at its finest.
