Parking is a bit hard, you have to drive all the way up/down the narrow and winding road if you want to use the lot. Recommend parallel parking and walking to trail head. The trail itself is very nice, and there was still water in the fall earlier in May.

Millard Falls is one of my favorite places to take my hiking and survival training groups to. It’s very diverse with everything I need to teach and educate groups on wilderness survival, preparedness and awareness. It’s also one of the best trails that is suitable for all ages and it’s best when you want to feel like you are in the wild. Great choice if you have limited time or a beginner.

Short hike for a really rad pay off so if you only want to hike maybe 3 mi total (there and back - didn’t loop around) this is the hike for you. It isn’t an easy hike necessarily but it is short. there are rocks to climb throughout the trail As well as stumps/ trees that may have fallen that you’ll need to climb or walk across to arrive to the water fall. I know you can bring dogs on this hike but I’m not sure I would personally bring my smaller dog(s) here because it may be hard for them to navigate up the first step unless you pick them up and they are trained to sit and wait while you climb up so it’s all just kinda depending on your dog and their abilities to rock climb I guess lol I also noticed they have camping near this trail and people may not have their dog on a leash so be careful if your dog isn’t the most friendly guy or gal…. Also mosquitos come out around 4:30/5 pm in may-july this year (2022) so I’m thinking if you’re camping over night or just coming in the the late afternoon bring bug spray! Wearing bright colors may also attract the bees that hangout near here they wound up in my shoe! And they started appearing while I was eating my lunch as a heads up so they’ll pop up if you have sandwich in your hand or so it seems

Unexpected fun find. Don't forget your adventure parking pass, you'll need it. It's pet friendly. If you park towards the top of the mountain the trailhead will be apx 100 yards away. Keep an eye out for the Millard Falls sign and follow. Eventually you'll arrive at the Millard campground (great spot for bathroom break, be warned not always clean...) The waterfall is not too far from there. We went late January, heard water mostly everywhere we walked. Remember to take what you bring in. Hope you enjoy!

You're supposed to have an Adventure Pass, but clearly the majority of the cars parked there do not have the pass.
It is always good to have the pass because if you hike a lot, it will be beneficial ,
The trails and parking lots are open but spacing is limited. So, you may need to risk driving there and maybe having to wait for a space. Good luck.
Yes, dogs on leash are welcomed. I believe at the falls some let dogs who are well-behaved off leash, so they can play in the water.
Yes the water is flowing all the time. No specific time necessary. Great short easy hike .5 miles to reach the waterfall.
Not a long walk. May 20 minutes at a normal/average pace.. And no, it is not steep at all. There were children and small dogs all along the way. Its a nice spot to get away from the city without leaving the city... I hope that helps answer your question...
In the REI store
I'm not sure how early you may need to get there, maybe anytime before 8am? The last two times we've gotten there after 2pm and found parking. It is a short hike so we make it back by 3pm.
If you want to hike like two miles you park at Mt Lowe Rd Trailhead and go down sunset ridge trail to the campground and right before crossing the river you go on the trail in the right. if you want to do less than a mile you can follow that road to the bottom there is a big parking before the campgroung PD: Be there early, parking is mess after 9am
Yes..open...plenty of parking. No camping
I have not seen any posts about its closure. It was only closed on the weekend of the Independence Day, like all other hikes in LA.
Yes. Its open
I think the sign posted on gate says 8. If you get stuck inside you have to call ranger station.
Open and flowing strongly
Well I liked. It should be nice now. Cause of the rain.
Yes, it's open. You need a permit and you'll need to carry your stuff a couple hundred feet to your site as you cannot bring your vehicle past the parking lot.
