I called and was given a quote of $10 per step. I offered a detailed description of my needs and asked many questions. Once the contractor arrived he gave a quote double my original. I called back to ask about this and was told that usually it is $30-$40 per step. (Meaning I was severely under quoted originally.) The contractor ran a test strip and only wanted to staple the carpet to the step rather than using tack strip, and tried to skip molding the carpet over the small ledge at the edge of the step. Premium dollar for extremely low quality work. Just be ready to spend 3-4 times more than they originally offer and for none of the employees to take responsibility on this.
