Here is some updated, information. For those of you who want to visit. The roar foundation. I stopped by this weekend and was not able to get in. I then called, to get some updated information. The roar foundation is only opened by appointment. One time a month. The tickets for January 2022 are sold out. Due to the new covid variant. They don't have another date set up, yet. For the upcoming months. Tickets are $50. I will keep you posted. Waiting for an update on their website. To get my appointment to visit.

It was nice to learn about the work the foundation does to rescue and care for these amazing big cats. The staff are friendly and passionate. The animals are beautiful and some are curious enough to come up to visitors for attention and pictures.

First time visiting this sanctuary and finally our was a beautiful sunny day. The animals were relaxed and the grounds were clean. I loved the outdoor decor and natural stream running along the compounds. Our guide and the director were welcoming, informative and honest about the care and history of the animals. Shambala is a beautiful home with a committed hard working staff!

Hard to get reservations, but fun to visit and a good cause to donate to. They have done such a good job, they may run out of big cats to save.

No 4feet away at all times hands off facility
No they do not have any elephants anymore. You're posting this on a public website. You have very little chance of Tippy seeing this. You should try twitter.
They have lunch and dinner events, several times a year. Very limited groups (40-50). Dinner is the best, lions roar around sunset, sends chills throughout your body. Cost is a donation to the foundation, dinner $150 and lunch $50, evening being well worth it. I have been several times and will go again. Tippi was there all but one time, she was away for her daughter's birthday party. They always started off with a tour of all the cats. About an hour from memory. Followed by food and then a presentation that was always different based on events they recently experienced, like the fires or floods in that area. Always followed by questions and Tippi visits everyone at there tables. They also have a gift shop you can visit before leaving. You can adopt a cat and they have very special events for parents of the cats. Also available is membership to the foundation that comes with other private events. Highly recommend at least one visit for the Sunset Safari.
Volunteer work. Degree not required.
The Roar Foundation works very closely with the local fire authorities. In most cases there policy is to not move the animals but instead defend them in place. They have the capabilities to move all the animals but that could actually cause more problems. The last fire up there got real close. Burnt trees on their fence. The staff with the support of firefighters defended the property and no animals were hurt. They built their facilities on a riverbed in a canyon, specifically as a defensible location. If you ever go for a tour, ask, they will explain it all.
Tours are scheduled and paid for by contacting the Reserve through their website or by phone.
