We stopped for lunch on Saturday. Several in our party had the catfish and were pleased. I had pulled pork, pulled chicken, greens, and a side salad. The salad was good, the pork and chicken were dry and largely lacked flavor, while the greens were an embarrassment. I have a standing rule: If you can't smell the bbq smoker before you enter, you are best not to enter. This visit reinforced that rule. (Three stars for apparently being a decent catfish place)

Sad to say that we were very underwhelmed by the BBQ here. We had gotten the Heffer platter to share. Pulled pork, BBQ turkey, beef brisket and fried catfish. We added ribs to this and our sides were baked beans, Dixie coleslaw and fried squash. In my opinion, the meats should be slightly separated and distinguishable from one another when they are in the same manner such as the pulled pork and the turkey. It was really hard to tell if we got one or the other. Beef brisket was OK in some bites, while other spots were dry and tough. The ribs were overdone today, enough said on them. The catfish was flaky, but a little pink. So I am on the fence about it. Baked beans were good, the Dixie coleslaw could have used a little acid mixed in like lemon juice or a splash of vinegar with all that mayonnaise. The fried squash was good. I hope that they take a look at these recent reviews and implement some improvements as this place has a very nice atmosphere. It obviously had some excellent times before as we noticed all the extra parking they have. It won't be that way unless changes are made.

One star for it being half price senior night! Brisket dinner was the worst we ever had! See the picture of the leftover fat from four slices of brisket. The catfish was mushy. The potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and collard greens tasted like they came from a Sysco can. Hush puppies were over fried and hard as a rock. The Texas toast undercooked. It even looked like someone's finger prints were in the bread. Sauces were all bland.
