It is a good place to go hunting for dove and rabbits. In the Summer rattlesnakes start to come out as soon as it starts to cool down in the evening.

Came here to shoot some upland game take it home and eat it... Saw some upland squirrel tracks, followed them into a draw and cornered the critter... It was so darn cute I just couldn't pull the trigger. Ended up going to in-n-out for a burger and animal fries. Best day ever!

...i mean it's a hunting area ... so discharging your firearm safely is probably allowed...but not really a good idea to shot rocks because of ricochet and spark risks and even then only shotguns are allowed from the sounds of it if you want to shoot your handgun go to 1N09 Recreational Shooting Site

Hunting license with appropriate tags / validation. Shotgun only area. Check open seasons for the type of game you're looking to hunt. Believe this area is only open for quail & rabbits during the season.
They are rabbits that run around... not sure if they r jack rabbits or not. So I guess u can.
Yes you can hunt with a cross bow. And yes as long as the unlicensed person does not have a gun/bow
