We always thoroughly enjoy our stay at Desoto State Park! It’s our favorite place to camp. Secluded, clean, and lots to explore in and around the park! It’s close to Fort Payne so it’s easy to enjoy their nice play ground, splash pad, and local shops! The staff is kind and helpful! We had a death in the family and I called to let them know we’d be checking out a day early. I didn’t ask for a refund, but they offered me one, even though I’m sure that wasn’t their policy. We really appreciate that! We’ve had lots of trips here and will certainly be back! 🦌

Awesome well-developed park. DeSoto Falls were closed. Fun hike to area below the falls. Stayed in Chalet 23. They are far apart and offer privacy. Many interesting hiking trails to explore.

A beautiful place. Many trails and waterfalls to look at. The store is a bit sparse so bring what you need. Come with a full tank of gas because the gas station is far. Also some of the trails are extremely easy and short and some are more challenging so most people can visit and take advantage of the beauty.

Check in was great and the lady that checked us in was sweet and answered all of our questions! Beautiful! We can hear the roaring water from the river below from our cabin and there is a very nice hiking trail in our back yard! Due to it being winter, we have a view of the mountains. Also, cabins are not close to each other so there is a good bit of privacy. The cabins have a lot of character and its amazing to see what the men of the CCC built! It is so quiet and peaceful here I don't ever want to leave and my children, ages 5, 13, and 15, surprisingly do not want to leave either! We just got here and we are already planning our mini summer vacation!

Yes, there are select lodgings that are dog-friendly in the park,(rooms, chalets, CCC Cabins) and of course dogs are welcome in the park itself on leashes
I would call the campgrounds and ask..
Not sure if it would be helpful, but there is a possible access at the DeSoto Falls Picnic Area(7 miles from main Park area of DeSoto State Park) From the parking lot of the falls, the swimming area is above dam/above the falls. There is a short boat ramp that slopes down to the water. This would be the easiest access
To rent Kayaks at DeSoto Falls at our Miller's Bend Paddle Shack, it is $15 per hour for a single sit-on-top and $25 per hour for a Tandem sit-on-top. Our Boat Shack hours are Fridays 2-6, Saturdays and Sundays 10-6. Monday-Thursday you can make reservations by calling 256-845-5380.
Just give our Lodge a call-the deal is called the Discover DeSoto package. $79 per couple, includes 1 nights stay in motel and breakfast the next morning. Lodge is open 24/7, 256.845.5380
It is a vast area with cottages and trees and falls...so the roads are for people to travel in cars up to a certain distance. From there you can go by walk, by walking into the rocky lands
Is everyone doing okay? Two pools are there. The one by the lodge or the one by the campground?
