This is a small family run business and from my novice perspective, they specialize in more rare fruit trees. Don’t be misled by the name. We walked out with African Gold Papaya, Tropic Snow Peach and Star Fruit “Super Star” fruit trees. It was a most enjoyable and educational experience. If you are looking for something give Alex a call. He will tell you if he has what you are looking for and stopping by will be a most educational experience. At least it was for me.

Largest tropical fruit collection in SolCal and super helpful and knowledgeable guidance during the visit by Alex and David. Will definitely come back for Cherimoya and egg fruit plants!

A long time family run business, papaya tree nursery specializes in the best trees for your particular climate. Alex is very knowledgeable and helpful. We had bought a tree at the local tractor supply hardware, and later found out that the chill hours were way too high for our area, and it would most likely never produce fruit. We checked in with Alex and got some specialty trees that we wanted. Call ahead and arrange a time you won't be disappointed. We went there planning on buying two or three trees and ended up buying four. Plout (dapple supreme) is a plum that has been crossed with an apricot. Aprium (flavor delight) is an apricot which has been crossed with a plum. And my favorite so far is the Plumerry (sweet treat) which is a plum crossed with a cherry. The Plout and Plumerry needs a plum (we got a burgundy) to propagate, the aprium is self fertile. We went back a week later and bought an Ava's pride peach to replace an oHenry or Elberta that we had bought ( which requires 7 to 800 chill hours to fruit). Which would be great for anything north of us maybe Camarillo or Lancaster, but not Simi valley. Short answer is Alex will help you out in your tree selection and not just sell you a tree to make a sale.

We bought two trees from Alex last year (sugar apple and guava). He is so knowledgeable! And, we had the pleasure of meeting his dad, who is absolute delight to chat with. Last week, I emailed Alex about how to care for and fertilize the trees I planted last year to facilitate growth and fruiting. He got back to me right away via email with such helpful tips. Thank you!! We wish we had more space in our backyard so we can buy more fruit trees from PTN!

Hello, Unfortunately, after offering the curry leaf plant for over 25 years, it was discontinued a few years ago. The reason for doing so has to do with county and state restrictions regarding the transport of citrus and related species. The curry leaf plant is a citrus relative and as such, is also under the same restrictions as citrus. Good luck in your search. Kind regards, Alex/PapayaTreeNursery
Hello Luis, Please specify for which tree you would like pricing information. Kind regards, Alex/PapayaTreeNursery
Hello Totz, Unfortunately, that plant is not offered. The nursery only offers edible fruit-bearing plants. Good luck in your search.🙂
Hello Juan, Unfortunately, that plant was discontinued years ago. I do not know where you could find the fruit to sample. Good luck in your search. Kind regards, Alex/PapayaTreeNursery

Hello Prakash, Unfortunately, the nursery does not offer that specie. Good luck in your search. Kind regards, Alex/PapayaTreeNursery
Hello, Unfortunately, after offering that specie for over twenty years, it was discontinued three years ago.
Unfortunately, those items are not offered. Also, we do not offer out of state shipping. Good luck in your search.
Hello Guy, Well, who's to say for sure what is going on with that paw paw seedling but I have noticed a pattern shown in more than one specie of a similar behavior. It may have something to do with the relatively mild early winter weather perhaps throwing the harvest "clocks" off by at least one month this year! In any case, I would not be too concerned as long as it appears healthy.
