Dr.Young and staff are great folks! I feel like a part of their family when I go there. They are thorough with patient care and flexible with scheduling around my time. I’ve never had a dentist so thoughtful and give me so much dental advice. Dr.Young can tell when I’ve been stressed when my jaw is locking up and gives me tips on how to protect my teeth with a night guard. I really appreciate our conversations about material science and thermodynamics in relation to fillings, dental composites, etc. I highly recommend them.

This was my first visit with Dr. Young and it went fantastic! I normally dread being in the dentist office, but Dr. Young was incredibly patient and very knowledgeable. She took the time to educate me on what she was doing and how to better care for my teeth. Her staff is very friendly and determined to get the insurance co-pays correct. I truly appreciate all the work they put into my visit! I will be returning to Dr. Young's office anxiety free.

Barbara is the best dentist I've ever had as she is very clear with how to best care for your teeth and let's you know exactly what is best for you in terms of procedures and fixes. Not to mention she is just great to speak with and everyone I've interacted with on their staff is top notch. Can't recommend highly enough!

I’ve been meaning to write this for awhile. I discovered Dr. Young through Opencare (which was great btw) and I could not be happier. I had a favorite hygienist Several years ago, but after she left I felt anxious and judged at my dentist office, they did not really seem to care about helping, just money as each visit they wanted to sell me on thousands of dollars of services. So when I found Dr. Young, I let them know it had been several years and I was super nervous. They personally called before my first appointment to reassure me and when I came into the office, they were all so friendly I felt like I had known them for years. Dr. Young saw me and I could tell right away that she just wanted to help me get my teeth and home care back on track. I’ve been back 3 times so far and have a clear idea of what I need to do, helpful and encouraging pointers of how to better care for my teeth, and everyone in the office has just been so nice. The cleanings are thorough and they take time to explain what is going on and how I can keep on track at home. I feel cared for, comfortable, and important every time that now I actually look forward to going to the dentist thanks to everyone there!

How Do I Know If I Have Gum Disease?

Kenzie Peacock | May 27, 2022
MSP | May 27, 2022

Gum disease is also called periodontal disease. Plaque and bacteria build up in a patient’s mouth. When this build-up is not treated in the early stages it can cause gum disease. Periodontal disease can also be caused by smoking and chewing tobacco, teeth grinding, certain medications, and genetics. Advanced forms of periodontal disease can cause bone and tooth loss as well as permanent damage. Dr. Young recommends that brushing and flossing every day as well as scheduling dental appointments every six months is the best way to fight gum disease.

Do I really need to floss?

MSP | May 27, 2022
MSP | May 27, 2022

There's no getting around the need to get around your teeth daily with dental floss. It clears food and plaque from between teeth and under the gumline. If you don't, plaque hardens into tartar, which forms wedges and widens the space between teeth and gums, causing pockets. Over time, gums pull away and teeth loosen.

MSP | May 27, 2022

Buy toothbrushes with soft bristles. Medium and firm ones can damage teeth and gums. Use soft pressure, for 2 minutes, two times a day. Most toothpastes will clear away bacteria growth and acids from food and drinks. Toothpastes with the American Dental Association (ADA) Seal of Acceptance always have fluoride, which strengthens and protects teeth.
