Nice camping experience. Just make sure, you reach before 5 pm. Firewood available at $5.

Not quite what I was expecting, but still lovely and peaceful for a walk. And for $5, you can't go wrong! This looks like a great spot for camping, boating and canoeing. For walking around and checking out wildlife, it was okay. I was hoping to see some turtles and armadillos because they were posted on the website. We explored the Gopher Trail and it looks like it gets a lot of traffic from horses. Once you walk away from the road, you experience the peace of walking between the trees. Note: The paths are mostly sand.

This is a great place to camp, but if you need ice or food supplies, you'll have to leave the park which isn't a huge deal because there are gas stations and a Publix supermarket within 6 miles or so but an onsite country store would be cool. Overall, we had a great experience here and will come again.

Very large site. Very tropical and not a lot of amenities nearby. But a great spot for an overnight or if you’re an active kayaker

Plenty of sites planning in advance is better. Sites fill quickly
Yes, you can swim here, but if you see any baby gators it's best to get out of the water.
Yes, there is a small beach area that has a swim area roped off. Be aware the lake has large alligators.... lots of them. They are attracted to small dogs and children not paying attention. It is free and there is a nice restroom and shower facility.
Yes very nice spots , but if it rains some spots gets flooded very quickly. Also theres power and water.
Most powered skis are well above 20hp so I would not do it myself.
Yes, you may fish. A valid fishing license is required. Boats are limited to a maximum of 20hp motors. There is a very nice boat launch available.
30 amp, water, large and deep size sites, very nice bathhouses. Great walking paths. We're coming back.
Yes. a sandy beach , and they rent mant out door items as well, kayaks, conoes, bikes its florida there ARE alligators! But you have a better chance of getting hit by lighting. And won't bite without provocation Park staff should be notified of any near the beach. The water is used for drinkinging bradenton, ami it has a black bottom so appears dark. Hope this is helpfull.
There is a second part of this State park. Driving east PAST the official entrance about 1000 ft beyond are the start of horse people dogs trail. There's a donation box but that's it. Google earth it, it is just east of the entrance same side of road. It is hiking horse riding trails and yes it goes down to lake Manatee. It is half woods half open to sky, it is a medium difficulty trail by foot. In summer bring water but the trail is sand and I go bare foot well because that's how I am. I walk my dogs to the lake and have a lunch. Your dogs will want to swim which is ok, but little danger from gators because any Florida boy (or woman) knows gators swim in with little stealth and you can see all the way across the lake. I stand in front of the dogs with my walking stick as a precaution and have never ever seen a gator there. If you like running or rugged hiking in mixed conditions I love it because I've only cross 2 other people while hiking there.
