River Bend is such an amazing place to go canoeing or kayaking. I've been going here for 20 years and it never gets old. The river is 95%shaded the entire trip. There are places to get out and explore or even stop and go for a swim. When you are on the river, you don't even realize that you are near a city. It's a true hidden gem in Palm Beach County. I highly recommend everybody experience it at least once in their lifetime. The staff at JOC are awesome and make sure you know exactly where to go.

We arrived at Riverbend Park and were immediately welcomed like friends. Every detail was thought of for an accommodating and flawless launch. Waterproof pouches, clean well fitting vests, nearby bathrooms, and a variety of kayaks hand picked by the crew for a customized fit. Our tour guide, Rick the owner, navigated us through the Loxahatchee River. Within minutes we were under a canopy of tropical greenery. The modern world disappeared in the serene quiet and Rick’s historical story telling added to this amazing experience. There was a sense of adventure as we went around the bends of the river to see alligators, turtles, a variety of birds and the majestic cypress trees. It was a very warm humid day but the climate on the river under the canopy was beautiful! We didn’t want it to end! After our river tour we got bikes and toured around the park, gorgeous! And again, although a hot day, the trails were shaded and comfortable. We decided to check out the Jupiter Outdoor Center’s eco retreat, a two story rental home made from storage containers, Headwaters Eco Retreat. We were so impressed with the location and lucky it was vacant that night for an impromptu stay! We are coming back with the adult kids! It feels like a campsite on the river with hotel accommodations! Truly unique! When you’re booking your trip think about having a full day and night of adventure like we did! Four of us rented tandem kayaks at the Jupiter Outdoor Center a few days ago. It is by far the most beautiful place we’ve kayaked. Lots of wildlife including alligators, turtles and birds. On our journey we met a man from Miami who frequently drives up to kayak there because of the beauty. The staff is very friendly. We’ll definitely be returning!

There aren’t any! One of the best things about kayaking and paddleboarding is that it is fun for the whole family, from infants to seniors. We have all the appropriate equipment you’ll need to make sure everyone is safe and having a blast. It is sometimes better to have younger kids in a 2-seater kayak with an adult, just because kids can get tired of paddling on their own and it is a great way to have fun together
Truly, it isn’t that hard to learn, which is why it is a sport growing in popularity so quickly. Just like anything in life, the more you practice the better you get, and everybody has a different aptitude for learning something new. We have seen great-grandmothers who have never paddle boarded before, rent a paddleboard and be paddling around Jupiter with no problem in less than 15 minutes, and have had athletic young men get out there and not do as well as the senior citizens. You can either give it a try on your own, with a brief orientation on technique by our staff (which everyone receives), or we offer a great 1-hour private lesson that can get you up and paddle like a pro with some training from an instructor!
If you don’t want to, we can and will give you the best advice on how to not end up in the water, but if you should fall out of your kayak or off your board, then it is truly very simple to get back in, and you will have a life jacket to keep you afloat. Very few people actually accidentally fall into the water, and it is actually fun to jump in on purpose.
They advise against it. Due to Aligators, it is dangerous to bring pets with you on the water. You wont get stopped, but know the risk.
Both! We have single kayaks that hold one person as well as two-person, or tandem, kayaks. We also offer canoes that can fit up to 4 people although we recommend for only 2 adults and 2 kids.
We currently do not have our old Lighthouse location but we are available for kayaks and canoes at Riverbend park. Kayak rental rates: 1 hour: $25 2 hour: $35 4 hours: $45 Full day: $60 (Currently only renting boards through tours or reservations). Stand-up paddleboard rental rates: 1 hour: $30 4 hours: $40 Full day: $50 Most of our tours cost $45 for a 90-minute tour. Kids 12 and under get $5 off any of our prices. These prices are per person. We also offer kayaking and paddleboarding membership programs that are great options for frequent paddlers, and give you access to unlimited use of our gear…much like a gym membership. Both individual and family memberships are available.
We are open 7 days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We do also offer some tours, like our sunset tours, that may run later into the evenings on select dates.

Manatees are year round residents of Florida and the Jupiter area. They do not congregate at the Fpl manatee center in Riviera except in winter
