My 5 year old has been with Dance Depot since fall 2018. Her teacher, Chloe, is very gifted as a teacher with young children and is very compassionate.. I have definitely been very impressed with her. There is a 2nd teacher who occasionally helps out, who I am less impressed with. I have seen her push my daughter's head with her foot (and not too gently) during floor exercises. I have seen her roughly handle several other students. I tried to have sympathy as she seemed to soften up over time, and my daughter's friend attended the same class so I was hesitant to leave. However, the coup de grace was getting charged for things we never consented to, and not getting refunded. I had made the mistake of going on autopay. Apparently they changed their autopay policy (without notifying us) that they could charge for whatever they felt was appropriate, without our consent, since we were on autopay. They charged us for costumes we could never use (since we were scheduled to be out of town during their production) but charged us in March before we even knew the dates of the June production, and never let us know that they had charged us. Additionally, they require you to pay tons of extra fees for all these extra things for their productions twice a year, and your kid gets about 3.5 min of stage time. In addition to that, they cancelled classes due to weather but still charged us and said "that's the way it is." We were out of town a few weeks and missed classes and gave them plenty of advanced notice, and they still charged us. I'm sure Dance Depot started as a company with a heart for dance. But now it seems to me that they are out there to rake in the money, erring on the side of throwing charges in everywhere for all this random stuff. There are other dance studios in Redding ... no need to get ripped off in order for your kid to enjoy dance.

My 4 and 2 year olds were so excited to do dance for the first time. The first two months we all loved it! Facility was clean, staff is kind and organized, and the kids loved dancing. However, once October came, weekly dance classes became all about performance preparation. Besides the huge added costs to perform, more importantly, my kids stopped having fun! They are far too young to care to spend all of their time practicing for a 90 second on stage performance. They missed the variety of class activity because literally all they did is practice. That said, I think all the local dance studios have big performances so they might not be different. If that was the appropriate situation for us we would absolutely return to Dance Depot.

My family has danced here for 8 years. They are all about having a great experience. Wherever you are in your dance journey...beginner or many years behind you, young or old, you will feel comfortable at this studio. Teachers are very experienced. They have developed a wonderful ballet program!
