I took my boat to Ken after another repair company told me I needed to rebuild my engine Ken diagnosed it as just bad gas so that was a good thing but I asked him to replace the impeller while he had it and after I got it back it was grinding going into forward and reverse Ken told me he did nothing to it it’s not his problem. I took it to another Boat Mechanic and it turned out it was adjustment on the shifting cable now the boat runs fine. As it turned out when Ken took the cowling off he changed the adjustment of the shifting cables I was standing there and saw him do it and then he went silent on me trying to get it fixed, he never answers his phone while he has your boat, he doesn’t return text for two or three days I was hoping this guy would’ve been my new mechanic but I won’t take it back to him. Very disappointed in Customer.

I would not let this guy touch anything I own. This is not a shop, he is literally a backyard mechanic. He works out of his house. He does not have the proper tools or knowledge to be working on boats. He worked on my boat several times, and I'm still left with a broken boat. He had the boat two times and wanted it a third. The first time I recieved it back it was missing hardware and leaking oil due to a hose not getting put back on. The second time I recieved it back it still is not running properly and once again had a hose he replaced pop off and start leaking oil. I finally told him I would meet him at the lake to show him the issue it was still having. When he arrived I was already on the lake, I immediately started heading his way. After he hung up with me he called me back and said he does not have time to wait for me and left ( it took me less then 5 min to get to the dock he was at). He cleaned my carbs on my boat and reused all the gaskets and parts instead of getting the rebuild kits. It took him over a day just to reconnect the hose that was leaking oil on my motor. This is not where you want to take your boat!

Like many other reviewers have previously noted, Ken REALLY is open 24 hours. I discovered I had an issue on a late Saturday afternoon I started researching options and came across Boat Doctors around 7 pm. I kept reading review after review stating people called him all hours so I decided to call. Ken cheerfully took my call we discussed my issue for about 10 minutes. He took my motor information and ordered the parts he thought he would need and scheduled an appointment for the following Thursday. He arrived early for our appointment, and was able to perform the repair in less time than he had originally quoted and passed the savings on to me. This repair (impeller) is considered standard maintenance that has to be performed every so often so Ken took the time to explain what he was doing and why as he was working on the motor in the event I wanted to attempt it myself. I cannot give a higher recommendation. Not only would I not hesitate to call Boat Doctors again, they are my new preferred service provider for any maritime needs. Thanks Ken!

We were having problems getting our boat to start this year. Its an older boat 1990 Champion with Johnson 150 motor. My wife called Ken and took it in to him the next day and he got it fixed in a little over an hour. He was honest and very nice! Ken worked so patiently with the old motor till it stated and we didn't have to replace any parts. He saved us a ton of money! Ken is an expert in engine repair! I would definitely recommend him!
